Gameday Open Thread: Blazers vs. Suns
They weren't joking about a compressed schedule, were they? Tonight, the Portland Trail Blazers travel to Phoenix to play the Suns (Late tip-off! 7:45pm). After a big emotional win last night, this is a classic let-down game. But the Blazers are a veteran team. Will they be energized? What do you expect to see tonight?
Injury report: All's quiet.
Read: Dave's Preview and Team Progress Report | Blazers Media Notes | Facebook | Ben's updates on Twitter
Watch: KGW (Portland), ESPN (Nationwide, no League Pass tonight!)
Listen: 750 AM The Game (Portland) | NBA Audio League Pass (Free)
The usual rules apply:
1. No swearing | 2. No pictures | 3. Be Nice!
4. Don't discuss unofficial game streaming
And, of course, have fun. Go Blazers! -- Tim

I was thinking letdown
but I sure hope not. I think watching Durant play and hearing Greg Oden news is enough of a let down.

only Felton and Crash played more than 35 minutes,
so the guys should be ready to go.
Hopefully we get to them early, so we won’t have to worry about this.

This might be a "classic let-down" type game but
the Suns are just terrible this year. This should be a total blow out.
Adam here to remind all those able to join me in Crash Out, the Gerald Wallace drinking game.
It’s fun for the whole family.
Disclaimer: This is not fun for the whole family.
Doers & Makers > Movers & Shakers
I played that game last night
and even with just the half game I’m not sure my liver can handle another go tonight….but what the hell! take one for the team!
Whenever Gerald Wallace hits the deck, take drink.

I hate it when kgw does the games I can watch anyway
I wish they would just do non national tv games that world normally be on comcast
65-1 baby
Nothing wrong with a little double-dipping. Just gives you more options
Besides, I bet everyone wishes KGW had been broadcasting last night’s game.
Kgw can only do so many games a year
So I don’t like it when they use one of their broadcasts on a game I can already watch
65-1 baby
by thomasikehara on Jan 6, 2012 6:41 PM PST up reply actions
That isn't going to come up this year
There is literally no unbroadcast games, so they’re grabbing every game they can.
Either a game is on CSN, KGW, or TNT this year. There’s no overlap, and national coverage is just a bonus.
I don't get Comcast is what I am saying
I get espn
65-1 baby
by thomasikehara on Jan 6, 2012 6:43 PM PST up reply actions
KGW and Comcast have exclusive rights to their set of games
So no luck for you on that one. Not going to change for a while to come, I’m afraid.
If it’s any consolation, if Comcast hadn’t offered to buy the games, it’s possible nobody would be seeing some of the games locally due to lack of coverage.
Can you use the streaming service for Comcast games?
Why not? If you can't get CSN in your area, and you're in the blackout zone, you should qualify
Just curious where the problem lies.

Another victory is in the cards tonight...
Allright, last night I predicted 108-97, one point each team off the 107-96 final score…
Tonight, I have two calls:
1) Elliot Williams makes his first appearance in the regular season for the Portland Trail Blazers.
2) Blazers come out a little sluggish, but the bench keys a nice rally to get close at halftime, and they cruise in the third, clearing the bench in the fourth.

They should establish down low with our bigs. Running works but not against a team that can do it better ;)

It is pretty different playing a team like the Suns. They play team ball. Against LA you only try to shut down Kobe. OKC you
let Westbrick chuck and focus on OKC. Suns move the ball well.
this is looking a lot like the Clippers game
unfortunately
without the new years eve in LA excuse...

Felton should
Nash has always been a liability defensively, and he’s not a string body.

Wow the Blazers look like they don't even care. No doubt it is fatigue but they need an attitude change.
They just look dead out there. I guess some night are just like that. You can’t have guys at 100% every night.
doesn't bode well for this crazy season though
Lots of b2bs and a couple b2b2bs
u-g-l-y
or not. I will not stop watching. Even if they are shotting 9-33…..
Gerald Wallace in hybernate mode again

Now that the Blazers are a 'hot team'
everyone is more motivated to take them down..

This
I think there’s some merit to this now. We’re not under the radar anymore and we need to adjust to our opponents
Blazers basketball? Just basketball you say? More like a way of life
finally got an illegal defense call though
was waiting for that
Does it loo to anyone else like Robin Lopez travels every time he has the ball?
I mean literally, like every time.
I agree with Hubie
We’re going to see some weird games this year.

Spark
Someone needs to come off the bench and catch fire.
WTF was that?
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
We will pick things up after halftime...
But a little run to get this game back within single digits before the 4th quarter is a must if we want to have any shot to win.
wasn't that Matthews, not Gerald, that got burned.?

This is so bad
Phoenix is a bad defensive team, and Portland is plain sucking on offense

It's funny how when they look good, they all look good together.
Seems it’s the same when they’re playing bad as well. Everyone’s stinking. Chemistry I guess.
wth is wrong with the floor?
that’s dangerous!
The Suns look bad
If we play at 75%, we will win
how 'bout some more of those oops?

Is anybody even guarding the 3 point line?
I mean the Suns guys are completely wide open everytime

Portland has a godd chance to win this game
The Suns aren’t up as much as they should be. We’ll probably make a run late and it will be a very close game in the end
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
Yeah, at least use Nolan and Elliot
We could use some shooting right now
Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!
Past our eight man rotation
not including Craig Smith, we don’t have that much going for us.
Blazers basketball? Just basketball you say? More like a way of life
If we're gonna miss baskets we need to be ready to at least try to make the dang rebound.
#52--------I believe in Greg Oden
Isn't that a cartoon on one of those pixar cartoons
We went like this, he went like that. I say to Hollywood: Where'd he go? Hollywood says: where'd who go?
Camby is setting up Aldridge better than Felton.
That’s not right.
we dont even rebound
just sit and watch the shooter
That court looks slippery.
Anyone agree?

Crawford is horrible tonight
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
no need for panic
Blazers can come back after halftime. Just like they almost did against the Clippers.

Ewill
But this was not so for Brandon Roy who listened to teammate Nicolas Batum, "You're an All-Star, a 3-time All-Star. Take the ball. They can't stop you. You just have to believe in yourself."

So he isn';t a better shooter than Miller
I thought he was suppose to be a better outside shooter? Guy cant hit an outside shot to save his life. Everything he hits is at the basket
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
When your 8 man rotation is playing like garbage..perhaps use more players?
Nolan Smith, Chris Johnson, Elliot Williams…you know thye will bring energy…they are probably itching to play.
15 is doable
Get it under 10 by the 4th. They’ll be okay….
Or lose by 30.
pull crawford
nothing worse with a gunner is cold
Can someone give me a good onomatopoeia for throwing up?
Thats how I feelright now

CASH IN YOUR CHIPS
Never say it this early, but jeeeez. This one is albeit over. Give the reserves a bone
Aldridge is trying, I'm amazed how many easy shots he's missed.
Any other night he would make them—like last night.
Although
Nate does have a knack for great adjustments at the half
Crawford..
For one i still have faith in Jamal I have watched Jamal and Joe over the last few years. Jamal can flat out ball ;) … Lately hes been having issues including last year. Would you rather have rudy? IMO no. Jamal at least comes through under pressure…Just saying it seems like lately its Z-bo or something?
err
Just saying it seems like everyones treating him lately as if its Z-bo or something?
