Petrie might soon be available
In October, Marc Stein reported that POR had interest in bringing Petrie in to fill our GM opening.
I'd fully endorse such a move.

You fully endorse such a move!?
Have you not paid attention to his tenure since 2007? He’s been one of the worst GM’s in the league. It would be an awful move if the Blazers hired him.
he's got a better track record than
the other names that have been bandied about. plus, with the uncertainty of their ownership, his decisions have been sort of understandable.
PHILLY!
ehhh, I don't think anything is really in the works, just speculation.
The Maloofs, who own the Sacramento Kings, have recently considered relieving longtime president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie of his position, multiple sources have told Sactown Royalty and SBNation.com. No move to replace Petrie, who has been the team’s only personnel boss for the entirety of the Maloofs’ ownership of the Kings, is imminent, but the family has, according to sources, reached out to a management agent within the past two weeks with eyes on lining up a successor.
and even with his track record, he doesn’t look like a great fit.

he actually managed to build a more unbalanced roster than david khan
no way. steal an assistant GM from the spurs.

exactly. if you go Spurs, ye shall not want of another (GM).

they're competitive right now with a roster comprised mainly of late-first and second rounders
part of that is the mentoring ability of popovich, but still.

Geoff Petrie is an ill-equipped old-timer who needs to be put down like Candy's dog in Of Mice and Men.
"I Am Mine"
Why not.
Especially if its true that Paul Allen essentially runs the Blazers his way. Not like Petrie will complain after losing the GM job of the Kings.
"We gotta get this $#!^ together guys!" - Phil
because I have higher expectations for this team
then having a team run by a failing GM and an owner making decisions without basketball knowledge.

Petrie resigned in protest when Allen fired Adelman. Not likely those two are getting together again.

Petrie would be a good move
I wouldnt be blown away by a signing like that but I would support it. I think he has done a pretty good job of amassing talent for the kings given the circumstances. They have their core pieces, they just need some vets sprinkled in and a competent coaching staff (similar to the 07 and 08 versions of the Blazers). And he does have a pretty good eye for talent if you look at his draft history and consider where he’s been picking from. He would at least have to be better than Chad Buchannan “acting” as GM wouldnt he?
