Gameday Open Thread: Blazers vs. Jazz

Back to the grind! Tonight, the Portland Trail Blazers travel to Utah to play the Jazz (6:10 tip-off). These teams are pretty even on record, but the Blazers have struggled mightily on the road. Can they pull out a win?

Injury report: For Utah, Al Jefferson and Raja Bell are not expected to play.

Me as well!

I think this game has the same potential as the OKC road game. I’d like to see a 10 point win statement game.

Devin Harris
Gordon Hayward (that’ll be an interesting matchup with Wes Matthews)
Josh Howard
Paul Millsap (should be fun to see him and Alldridge go at it)
Derrick Favors

You know what would be really cool?..

…To have Ray Felton break out and have a good game. Take Harris off the dribble and collapse their defense, make the right pass and then hit some shots once they back off of him.

I know I’m asking a lot but I have faith that it will happen sometime.

C’mon fellas… Bring us back a conference road win!!!

Not really

He hasnt really done much. Couple swing pass assists; 1 assist was on a half-penetration outlet for long Aldridge jumper. 1 layup came unciontested when he swooped in unguarded. Missed only jumper. Playing good this game because hes been mistake free, but he’s not really creating, fast breaking or doing anything extraordinary. Just playing in the confines of the game, and thats enough right now.

sometimes the smell of a certain player will make him allergic to defense too

and he’s allergic to the 3pt line in most away games

Rebounding?

I know where I come from, and when you always have in mind where you come from the rest will be easy. I think the rest will be easy.

Thank you Aldridge

Maybe we should get it to our best player more often.

I mind the turnovers less than Utah players beating everyone down the floor.

If they miss the layin, no way they should get the offensive rebound.

Probably

But it’s the chicken and the egg scenario: if he doesnt play, he can’t improve.

To an extent

For rookies, a season of practice can do more good than having their morale destroyed on the court. Depends on the player, and their level of skill.

Felton actually played decently that half.

He hit 1 of 2 outside jumpers (3), but he should at this point because he’s left completely wide open. He doesnt get any respect from 3 feet inside the arc out. It’s embarassing how poorly he shoots out there in lieu of this fact, but he’s 1 for 2 tonight (its a start)
