Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports that former Portland Trail Blazers guard Patty Mills has been released by the Xinjiang Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association. ------------------------------- Patty Mills has been released by Xinjiang of China Basketball Associastion, source tells Y! Sports. He's been out 10 days with hamstring injury. Mills wants to return to the Trail Blazers, but it's unclear if he can obtain a FIBA letter of clearance to play before March, source says. ------------------------------- Blazers Acting GM Chad Buchanan said Tuesday night that he "can't comment at this point" in response to a question gauging Portland's interest in Mills. Portland's roster is currently maxed out, so re-acquiring Mills would require a player to be waived or traded. The Blazers currently have three point guards on the roster -- Raymond Felton, Nolan Smith, Armon Johnson -- plus guard Jamal Crawford who sees time at both guard positions. Johnson has been listed as inactive for roster purposes for all of Portland's games so far this season. Mills said on December 27 that he expected to be sidelined for 3-6 weeks. Prior to joining Xinjiang in November, Mills played for the Melbourne Tigers in Australia's National Basketball League. The Blazers made Mills a qualifying offer last summer. Mills has repeatedly expressed a desire to return to Portland and the NBA. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
