Update
1. Thunder
2. Blazers 1 or two games behind. Our key Ray finds his groove
3. Jazz
4. Nuggets
5. Clippers
6. Mavs
7. Lakers

division champs automatically get a top 4 seed
so even if the thunder, blazers nuggets and jazz get the four best records (not likely), two of them are going to fall back into the 5th and 6th seeds.

Sort of...
Let’s say the west finishes with Thunder, Nuggets, Blazers, Jazz in that order as the top 4. Then let’s say the Lakers and Dallas win their divisions, but have worse records than all four of the teams in the NW division. Thunder would have the first seed, Nuggets would have the second seed. Lakers and Dallas would have the third and fourth seeds since they won their division (whoever had the better record would be third). Portland would come in as the fifth seed, and Utah with the sixth seed.
HOWEVER, home court advantage is now determined solely by record. So while Portland would TECHNICALLY be the five seed against either Dallas or L.A., Portland would actually have home court advantage in this matchup based on having the better record. And Utah as the sixth seed would have home court advantage against the three seed.

I think we beat LA
Neither of these teams can presently win on the road. If the Blazers get the higher seed they get a crucial home advantage and have by far a deeper bench.
Johnson, Johnson, Smith, Smith, Thomas, Williams, and Babbitt: the Blazer's law firm.
Remember, division winners are guaranteed a top-4 seed.
Because of that, I can’t see Portland finishing any higher than 5th in the Western Conference.

According to that reference
The Blazers would be able to be in the top four…"The top four seeds will be the three division winners plus the team with the next best record. Those four will be ordered by record (and tiebreakers if needed), so it’s possible that two teams in the same division could hold the top two spots, with the other two division winners at Nos. 3 and 4. "
denver would have to fall behind
and they’re built to dominate this regular season with their depth and youth.

I'm just saying that it would seem to be technically possible
for the blazers to grab a top 4 seed without winning the division.
if those were the records at the end of the seasons, the lakers would end up with the 4 seed because they're division champs
it’s strange, but it’s the rules they came up with.
other than that, I would love a first round match-up against the l*kers. They’ve looked really vulnerable all season since their offense has turned into inefficient kobe isos, they are our bitter rivals, and the team always brings it when we play them.
I would love to see the look on bryant’s face after we knock his team out in five games.

True, but seedings don't necessarily indicate home court advantage.
All division winners are guaranteed at least a top 4 seed but if a lower seed has a better record they get home court advantage in a head-to-head matchup.
If the Blazers and Lakers met in a playoff series with the rosters they currently have, Blazers take the series in 5 with home court and 6 without.
If the Lakers make a deadline deal that could change everything.
I like early predictions
I think the only lock is that OKC gets #1 in the WC.
My (bold) prediction is that LA doesn’t make the playoffs. This is how I see the WC playing out:
1. OKC
2. LAC
3. MEM
4. POR
5. DEN
6. DAL
7. HOU
8. UTAH

and the spurs are out in your prediction too?
down the old teams, I guess. though I like the Spurs a lot more than the lakers.

I wouldn't put Memphis that high
don’t think HOU will make it.
No way the Blazers make the top 4. They may be fighting for the 7-8 spots.
