1-28-12 New Junk!
So last night I went and saw Demetri Martin... which was funny and all but I missed the Suns game!!!! :( REGRET
And now i'm home and there is no current junk or game on tonight! What the heck!? Let's do this thing!
Who is your favorite comedian? Or do you have a favorite stand up routine? I need some suggestions. Jim Gaffigan was very good. I've also seen Tosh (also good) and now Martin. All of them were pretty funny. I can't remember the guy that came on before Martins name but he was crap... I laughed liked once and only because I felt I needed to just so I didn't look like a jerk. lol.
and now some Brain on Funk:

I said in a previous JD that I thought AK would look like George RR Martin when he gets old
I now rescind that comment.

lol, that is one of the strangest comments I've ever read on BEdge.
if I’ve got a flab question about an aging male actor then I’m coming to you first.

Seriously, that's a bad idea
I don’t know how I know that he’s got a flab prob. I just know.
Which can be said about most of what I know…so maybe you should just come to me when you have a question that makes you go “Man, do I even know anyone who might know some factoid this random?” cuz I might actually know.

Is that Daniel Craig?
There’s one actor who has a relatively unattractive wife, although I don’t believe it’s Craig.
I think it’s Hugh Jackman, but don’t hold me to that.

No, it's really me ;)
I think Daniel Craig’s a bachelor, but I’m not sure.

Definitely an age difference, yeah.
Yet, you’re right that she’s fine for someone in her mid-50s.

Dude! Ok...
So, apparently, although Daniel Craig is now married to Rachael Weisze, he had a long time partner, Satzuki Mitchell, who is kinda “meh” in the face.

who was advocating for terrence ross?
I go to Arizona and was at the game tonight, and he pretty much killed us, so I’ll agree on that one.
"Wide, girthy. Just like a Rhino. Sometimes my horns are visible."
sorry to say, but Demetri is vastly overrated.
I miss the days when people didn’t know who Zach Galifianakis was. He was always my favorite Halloween costume.
The guys who really did it for me, like, the old-school guys, were from Mr Show, which are Bob Odenkirk and David Cross.
Nowadays, I’d say the Stella guys- who are Michael Ian Black, David Wain, and Michael Showalter- are pretty much still cutting edge while being intellectuals, stupid as their comedy is.
I’m somewhat of a fan of Aziz Ansari; and the guys from the League are all pretty funny comedians.
A couple up-and-comers to watch for are the guys from The Whitest Kids You Know.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot about one of my favs, who died a couple years back, though I saw him live before he passed… Mitch Hedberg

no reason to be sorry
before last night I’d only watched part of one of his shows on Netflix. I didn’t even make it through the whole thing. I’ll admit I did like his show last night though, but maybe that was just because the guy before him was so horrible.

in all fairness, he's a funny stand-up comedian, but his show just isn't funny.

last weekend I watched the first season of Louie
It was really funny.
"Wide, girthy. Just like a Rhino. Sometimes my horns are visible."
Louie is great, especially his stand-up about his daughters, but the show is a little slow,
and it tends to be his or miss.

I'm probably going to get laughed at
But my favorite stand-up guys are the Blue Collar Comedy crew, except Bill Engvall. I know they had a TV show sucked, and the actual Blue Collar Comedy Tour was meh. And Larry the Cable Guy’s movies (aside from Cars) suck.
Individually, though, Foxworthy, Larry, and Tater are great stand-up comedians.
Other than that, I really like Brian Regan. I didn’t see him when he was in P-Town, though, since I had already bought my Eric Clapton tickets.

My closed mind mindedness was starting to get me down
so I sat myself down before the boob tube and actually watched the entire season of Portlandia on Netsux. It hooked me. I love those two lovable losers. The whole schtick makes me laugh.
I would never watch a show called 'Portlandia'

I couldn't get into it
and I really like Fred Armisen.

Although his stand-up specials are better than the TV show.
Gaffigan is fantastic, did anyone happen to catch his new special on Comedy Central today? (ok it may not be NEW new, but it was the first, and second, time I’ve ever seen it) he spent about the half the time talking about bacon, and yes, it was as glorious as it sounds.

From a Cannis Hopus comment:
So, I’m loving the Wolves so far because there is an exciting collection of weird players, sometimes it seems like only a machiavellian mind with a secret agenda could have built such a roster,…
I love it. So true, and it´s working!!!!! Crazy.
I´m following Ricky Rubio and Rudy since they were playing for Joventut and, after two years of crisis for both players, it seems they are now playing for teams that fit their style and both playing good basketball. In Ricky´s case he has got himself out of the hole he was in Barcelona, and now he is third in the league in steals, third in assists and 10th in rebounds among guards. So yes, a coach can bury a good player with his system.
For anyone interested in watching Ricky´s and Rudy´s last games (both worth a watch, and in Rudy´s case with some Bayless and Andre Miller) here are the highlights:
webster's got a weird new hairdo at about the 4-minute mark of the wolves video.
"Wide, girthy. Just like a Rhino. Sometimes my horns are visible."
I thought he was injured again?
Just kidding! But seriously…Those numbers seem like he’s playing more like a wing than a big, which is probably better for him in the long run.
PS I want to see Nando de Colo in the NBA.

He was injured but he came back a week ago or so.
He has no future out of the SF position, IMO. He is a long athletic SF with good outside shooting, but he can not defend SFs at the NBA level right now. He is improving but not there yet. Lets hope.
Question for ya:
Is he more of a spot-up shooter, or a shot creator?

Eddie Izzard...
Back when he did his standup as a transvestite is seriously the funniest comedy I’ve ever seen.
Watch “Dress to Kill” to understand the greatness of Eddie Izzard.
The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.
/keep Batum/ /trade for Bogut/
Izzard has some great comedy specials
his drag added to his whole strange persona.
His religious observations always made me giggle.

Simmons about Rubio.
4. Rubio?
Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuubioooooooooooooooo!
It’s been a bittersweet ascent for me: Less than three years ago, I was driving the Rubio Bandwagon and excoriating Memphis, Oklahoma City and Sacramento for passing on him in the 2009 draft, writing things like, “If I had to bet my life on any 2009 prospect becoming a top-three player on a championship team, I’d bet on Blake Griffin, Ricky Rubio and Stephen Curry,” “I’m excited for ‘Thabeet over Rubio’ to become the new ‘Darko over Carmelo,’” and, “Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, is going to regret not being more excited about Ricky Rubio on June 25, 2009.” When he slogged along for two woefully unimpressive seasons overseas, I should have stuck to my guns and written, “I’m not giving up! I believe in Rubio!” and eventually, it would have become my greatest NBA prediction of the past 10 years, surpassing even, “Portland will regret taking Oden over Durant.” Like a pussy, I caved. The reports from Europe freaked me out. I worried Ricky was a bust, that I overrated his incredible Gold Medal game performance in 2008 (only 17 and battling the big boys!), that he wasn’t a step ahead of other players like I thought, that he didn’t have the passing gene like Larry and Magic did, that his lousy outside shot would sink his career.
Nope. I don’t know what happened in Europe, just what I see now … and what I see is someone who’s a step ahead of everyone else, makes passes that nobody else makes, loves playing basketball to the point that it’s actually contagious, aces the “Would You Like Playing With Him?” Test to the point that we should just change it to the Rubio Test, rises to the occasion when it matters (most recently with a game-tying 3 against the Clips with 20 seconds left in the game), beats anyone he wants off the dribble, plays with a Maravichian flair and, for lack of a better phrase, lights up the room. Only in this case, it’s usually a room with 16,000 people in it. If you were having a “Which Two Teammates Would You Want to Build Around for the Next 10 Years” argument, LeBron and Wade would be first, then Durant and Westbrook, then Paul and Griffin … and Rubio and Love would be fourth.
It’s the last point that matters most. Rubio and Love accomplished the rarest of feats: They’re such good passers and possess such a hugh basketball IQ, that it actually rubbed off on their teammates. They’re infectious. Watch the Wolves sometime — you’ll see perfectly executed pick-and-rolls, gorgeous backdoor cuts, seamless three-on-ones and everything else I grew up watching. Once upon a time, I watched Larry Bird and Magic Johnson (the two most infectious NBA players of all time) turn black holes like Kareem and Kevin McHale into half-decent passers. It’s happening again on a smaller scale in Minnesota. Well, with everyone but Michael Beasley. But it’s a beautiful thing to watch, and for Kevin Love — who slogged through three crummy years wondering if he’d ever play with anyone who had a basketball IQ over 80 — he has to feel like he died and went to basketball heaven. I never thought Rubio would play this well or stand out this much. What a pleasant surprise. I feel gooey. Of course …
I´ll be glad if Rudy joins Ricky in the same team and they play again together the way they used to in Joventut.
Sota has no SG. They are playing Luke Ridnaur at SG!
ok, my computer was tweaking out for a sec there
my post were double posting for me and one was popping up as a new comment. Weird
BTW I installed ICS (Cyanogenmod 9) on the HP Touchpad.
They did some nice work, both the Android portion and the CM9 portion. It’s nowhere in the vicinity of a laptop replacement, but it’s smooth and solid. ICS is much better on a tablet than Gingerbread.
nice
my father-in-law picked up a toshiba thrive. It’s pretty nice, but it’s convinced me that I want to wait till some faster things come out. I’m not in a rush still, and haven’t really been all that impressed with the tabs i’ve played with.
Next generation models will have an insane resolution on their screens, higher than your LCD TV.
There is plenty of interesting stuff on the horizon if you’re interested in tablets.
