Go after Kaman?
http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2012/1/28/2754437/chris-kaman-trade-new-orleans-hornets
Looks like the Hornets are gonna sit Kaman and look to trade him before the deadline. Is this a big man we should go after? We have lots of expiring contracts and young talent to trade to NOLA for him. He's had quite a bit of injury history in the last few seasons, but was played like an all-star when he was healthy. Would you be willing to give up young talen and/or draft pics to get him? What do you think? Any trade machine ideas?

No...one injury prone center is enough
Besides, he makes $14 mm, averages just north of 60 games a season and his career numbers aren’t fantastic. Can’t justify paying him more than Aldridge to come off the bench behind a center eight years older than him.
I like him when healthy, but he’s not pushing open your championship window.

Offseason consideration for sure
With that price tag Portland would have to send quite a bit. Nola doesn’t know what to do. Not extending Gordon…your new franchise player…was ridiculous. They have no professional and objective leadership.
Yes sir
I would love to see Gordon in Portland. Pay him whatever as long as it gets done.

This
Perhaps the reason why Batum wasn’t extended—PDX FO wants Gordon.
Honor Alaa Abdelnaby.
First in the NBA. At least alphabetically
We could get both of them
just have to sign gordon first.
Chris Kaman's contract is just too big to make any trade for.
The Blazers would just have to give up too much to get him. Camby is still clearly a better option at center than Kaman anyway
Don't know how clearcut Camby vs. Kaman would be
Kaman is having a down year – but is still a more efficient player. Kaman shoots a lot better, Camby assists a whole lot more…Camby rebounds more….

It's not a down year for Kaman...
…it’s a normal year. He had one good year scoring and one good year rebounding when the stars aligned properly and now people seem to remember him only as an “All Star” big guy.
He isn’t… and for the team we have right not Camby is far and away the better center. Do you really think a guy who prefers taking outside shots and is half the rebounder and defender Marcus Camby is a more efficient player? I’m not talking about PER or shooting percentages I’m talking about contributing to our team.
For $14mil. per year I expect A LOT more then a guy with career 11pts & 8rebs. per game dude who prefers to shoot jumpers.
#7... GO BLAZERS!!!
uhhhh no kaman
is an overrated shoot to much play no defense center that is out of his prime
chris kaman is horrible
his allstar selection was one of the worst in many years.
Jamal Magliore?

as many have already said, he's vastly overpaid ($14 million)
and NO isn’t looking for expiring contracts, which is all we’re able to give.
It would take a bunch of picks or most of our rookies just to get a guy who would put us way over the tax threshold.

Would rather trade for Jarrett Jack.

I disagree
though he’s having a nice enough season this year, he’s playing with a bunch of scrubs and without Eric Gordon. He is the go-to guy on that team. He’s put up lesser numbers for PDX, and my belief is his efficiency would suffer as well while playing for a good team.
I feel we need more help at the 5 than at the 1, though I feel that Portland won’t seek either of those two.

I'd rather have Minnesota's unprotected first rounder
Now that they are starting to win games you might be able to get that pick on firesale prices.
While I agree with the sentiment that we need a starting center
Chris Kaman isn’t the player we should be targeting. I’d rather have Okefor for his defense.

yup.
and since it seems as if NO is parting with Kaman, Okafor probably is now off the market.
some crap team like NJ Nyets will drop a player and pick to have cap space this summer or something.

We could get him in spite of his high price tag
Camby or Wallace would work straight up. Felton plus one other player making around $1.5 million (Babbitt) would also work.
I believe they could add picks to the deal but Kaman cannot be traded with other players for two months which I think would be around mid-February.
He is a guy that would be interesting to see how he would work with LA. I haven’t watched him play a ton but I know he can hit a 20 foot jumper and can work fairly well in the post. He also rebounds well. He isn’t worth giving up Camby for. Wallace is an interesting one because I wouldn’t see it as the perfect trade, but if they can get a pick out of it as well, it would open room for Batum and probably Williams to get some time.
If you have LA in the post, Batum, Matthews, and Crawford on the perimeter and Kaman in the high post, you might become a bit more dangerous on offense. Defense would be the problem. I would probably still pass on Kaman.
