Gameday Open Thread: Suns vs. Blazers

I don't know about the team, but I sure enjoyed a night off. It was a short break though. Tonight, the Portland Trail Blazers try to get payback at home against the Phoenix Suns (7:10 tip-off). Phoenix has been playing better on this road trip, but the Blazers have a bad aftertaste from their first meeting. Can Portland return the favor tonight?

Revenge will taste good today.. :P

But this was not so for Brandon Roy who listened to teammate Nicolas Batum, "You're an All-Star, a 3-time All-Star. Take the ball. They can't stop you. You just have to believe in yourself."

I’m thinking he needs introduced to Kurt and Craig early as early in the game as possible.

Time for another round of Crash Out: the Gerald Wallace drinking game!

The rules are simple…

1. Drink every time Wallace hits the deck.
2. Drink every time Wallace hits the deck.
3. Seriously, drink every time Wallace hits the deck.

Have fun, and try not to operate any heavy machinery after the game.

The Suns were rather abusive on our last visit to Phoenix.

I am not feeling at all sympathetic if they have a distinctly bad night.

what is remarkable in my mind,

is that it is that exceptional length is not such a requirement to play guard.
Point being there is a FAR greater population of guard size players in the general population.
That should be the easy place to find great talent, as opposed to bigs.
Our front court is decent. Similarly talented guards would be so nice.

by Berkeley on Jan 27, 2012 7:28 PM PST up reply actions

I mean, look at all the talented young point guards in this league right now

you’d think with all the effort we’ve put into this we could’ve gotten one by now.

And, as incredible as it is, Nash is running around Felton is not even there! Crazy, he’s not really running at a breakneck speed either. It’s a bad combo of Felton being a bad defender and Nash’s craftiness.

by blazerfrog on Jan 27, 2012 8:13 PM PST up reply actions

So what was the story before the injury?

Or do you all have memory lapses?? Don’t get me wrong… I LOVE Gerald.. borderline bro-mance but good Lord- go left handed!!!! Stop with the 2 handed finger rolls at the rim! That goes for LMA too!! When this team dunks they all ge fired up- they play with that extra aggression… if Wallace doesn’t want to dunk because his finger is sideways- FINE. Just finish strong! I don’t care about the stats— in any other game those blown bunnies at the rim can cost you big time… (reference Warriors game).

Finishing at the rim is something that has been staggeringly bad— the guy who I would count on not being part of the problem is Wallace.

Finish the bunnies- that is all that I ask :-)

Can't disagree

But I overlook somethings because it’s not like sheed where stupid mistakes happen because he doesn’t care, this wallace makes mistakes because he is always running in high speed..

I’d say he’s worked out fairly well for us..

Yep- and I love it!

Finish… at … the ….. rim. Bottom line.
