Summer market better-stocked after players pass on extensions
Some discussion regarding Felton, Wallace and Batum and the restricted free agent class of 2008. Namely, Batum is listed as 'Potential Top-Shelver'. Who should we make a push for this off-season?

If we could get Deron Williams, I would be immensely satisfied. But small chance.
I would love to have Eric Gordon. Roy Hibbert looks good. And I’d maybe take a chance on George Hill and Robin Lopez if they were affordable enough.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
Of course D-Will...
but if you go for Gordon, what do you do with Matthews? Not that I don’t like Gordon but I prefer Mathews because of his defense.
I’m not big on Robin Lopez but Brook might not be a bad target! Hibbert might be decent if we don’t bring Freeland over (I don’t see either as solid starter material). Hill might be a nice addition if we don’t resign Felton (or Crawford leaves). If we give Nolan the reigns, Hill would be a solid backup at the 1 or 2 (assuming we lose Felton and/or Crawford). I’m not exactly high on Nolan, btw…

Matthews would make a better 3 than a 2.
Especially in Nate’s offense. Spot up 3’s from corner and attack from the edges. His faults are as a 2 (poor ball handling) would actually be covered up from the fact that you don’t have to be as skilled with the ball when attacking from the baseline. Plus, he’s a physical defender and good rebounder.
I don’t think you have to worry too much about overlapping skillset. Still, I’m not sold on Gordon as he only had good half of a season so let’s see how he plays this season.
The cake was a lie.

Three 6'5" guys or less on the perimeter...
we’d get killed by 2’s and 3’s. Matthews is not a 3. A Melo or Lebron-type 3 would post him up in a heartbeat and destroy him…
You got to admit that Matthews ball handling is improving. He’s been able to get in the lane much more easily than years past. Not that I want him running the offense and handling the ball but all he really needs is one or two safe dribbles in his repertoire to get in the lane and create…

Yeah, he's fine if we get a PG with better handles and vision
Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!
To be fair, Melo or LeBron would destroy any 3.
I am more concerned about strength than height for defending 3’s. Matthews is plenty strong for most 3s.
The cake was a lie.
GW is a 3/4 that can defend most 4's.
Both Melo and LeBron are the same as well that they can man both 3 and stretch 4 position. (In case of LeBron, even power 4)
Matthews is a 2/3, in contrast.
The cake was a lie.
gordon
If we could get gordon, I would happily be willing to send mathews on his way. I dont think its even close

Is there any way possible to somehow afford a max deal for Deron williams, keep Nic, and resign Oden?
Assuming Gerald and Jamal opt out, and Camby’s and Felton’s contracts expiring obviously. With the rest of the roster intact, that would be just awesome.
We can keep Nic and offer a max no problem if Wallace opts out
There would be a little room under the cap for Oden (not that I would sign him), maybe 5 million depending on how much Batum gets.

The Blazers will let the market decide Oden's value. Frankly, we might
all be a little surprised. Having lost the better part of 4 years out of his first 5 is something that hardly recommends him.
Would love to get D-Will in the lineup with Aldridge, Batum, Matthews and...
Freeland (if he comes over)? I’m not banking on Oden. I think it may be tough to get Brook Lopez but maybe Hibbert. No interest in Sideshow Bob Lopez here…

I'd seriously take just about anyone on the list...
including, but not limited to:
-Roy Hibbert
-OJ Mayo
-Ryan Anderson
-Javale McGee
-Courtney Lee
-Robin Lopez/ Brook Lopez (big men who kinda suck, kinds don’t)
I don’t want Gordon, as I don’t respect his game nor like his attitude. Just my opinion, btw.

if it were possible I'd be all for it,
but Ind. will lock him up for the foreseeable future.
A young, offensively talented, 7 foot 2 center is rare in the league. He’s averaging 14 and 10 with a PER over 21. Why would anyone give that up?

for the record
I wanted him over anyone in that draft after Oden’s first injury, including the great short armed hope, Jerryd Bayless.
