Should we blame Nate McMillan?

Stay connected for news and updates

Lately I've been getting annoyed by Mac's choices during games. I'm not sure if there's already been a discussion about this, but I'm new. Anyways, take last night's game against GSW as an example. The 4thQ started with Batum and C. Smith in, and they were both on fire. The lead was brought down to 2 or something at the beginning of the 4th, and I believe Batum and Smith's aggressive play helped bring the moment towards us. But around the 5 minute mark Mac took out both of them for the road-struggling Wallace (who finished with 6/6/3) and Camby, who other than rebounds (which we had no trouble with last night) rarely contributes offensively anymore. I think that was a huge mistake by McMillian. Right after the substitution the lead blew right back up to 7 and we had turnovers after turnovers. So should we blame the coaching moves by McMillian? Also I've read articles where Crawford specifically told McMillan that he did not want to play PG. Why not trust Nolan Smith? Yes, he is a rookie, but he is much more experienced than the typical PG that come into their rookie season. And it seems like he understands his role on the team, so he's a pass-first PG who can take the pressure off of Crawford.
