Gameday Open Thread: Grizzlies vs. Blazers
UPDATE: Gerald Wallace re-injured his finger in the third quarter, and headed to the bench immediately. He returned in the fourth quarter.
The Grizzlies and Blazers played to a near-standstill in the first half, with Portland holding a 4 point lead. Hang out here and discuss the second half.
BTW, just a quick moment to reiterate the whole "no swearing" rule, including abbreviations. Thanks folks!

we kind of let Memphis off the hook
Too many turn overs and Aldridge would have continued to torch both Spights and Gasol on single coverage. The guy is shooting 6/7. You’d think they could find him a couple more shots.
They did get him the ball and he drew the double and passed it out and they missed shots

re-post, pick and roll, something...
Our entry passes were complete crap. I still feel like we let them off way too easy.
Well it's kinda hard when Nate pulls you with 5 mins left in 2nd q

He would'nt pull the trigger even if he got the ball.
Last night they got it to him in the corner(which happens to be the only place he likes to be) and he passed out of a wide open shot that led to a shot clock violation

we switch players over the summer and we're still shooting horribly

GSW is always tough at home... Portland rarely wins there
If they win tomorrow, especially if they hold on tonight, I’d be thrilled.

Nice Q by Portland
Played a nice game overall. We caught Memphis on an off night. Looks like they’ve ran outta gas just hoisting long jumpers. We’re playing with more energy – we win
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
They really need to put the foot down on the accelerator now
They could put this team away early in the fourth…
Without Zach Randolph I think we're better
They have a MUCH better PG though. With Zach is pretty close.
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
Remember
Memphis was down 16 after three last night and won

Calling it right here, right now
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
Book it there big fella
Make sure to indicate that while Portland deserves every credit for the win (no excuses in the NBA), Memphis really looked flat all night and we’re mostly perimeter oriented. Still, we stopped they’re 7 game win streak

Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
hindsight is 20/20
I expect Felton to admit he was out of shape this season where ever he ends up next season.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
Whatst he point of a rotation if no matter how bad Ray plays hes gonna play 30+ minutes ? What reason does he have to improve ?
Why not give Nolan some run since we do have to play again tomorrow ?
Nolan got some time in the first half.
Got absolutely schooled by the Memphis guards. Felton hasn’t been much better, but Nolan didn’t give Nate any reason to play him.

All right, a solid win tonight.
Entering tonight’s game, Portland had approximately a 60/40 chance at victory. I expected a closer outcome, but the final result is the same no matter if it’s a win of 15 or 5.
At any rate, however, both teams will be sitting home by the start of the Western Conference Semifinals. Tonight doesn’t change that, either.
"I Am Mine"
Yeah, it's somewhat matchup dependent.
I still think lowly of Memphis, though. I just don’t see it.

Neither team is getting to the second round, so no worries.
They’ll both be one-and-done or, perhaps, miss the playoffs altogether.
Actually, I have Portland as a 7th/8th seed. It’s Memphis I have in the lottery.

Yep. Memphis has been playing some good ball recently and Portland had struggled.
I went into tonight with low expectations.
I had 'em winning tonight, but am shocked by all the fouls drawn and the amount by which they won.
Tomorrow, however, I do have Golden State beating Portland.

Crawford
For all the crap Felton takes the real issue long term is Crawford. That guy is eating BatumIs minutes without really deserving them. Seriously anyone can score a few points just hoising up shots. He is a bad fit on this team and the reason well end up losing batum.
Possibly, yeah. For starters I think Nate has a preference for Crawford.
It’s weird though, because i thought McMillan liked players who could play defense.
not when he watched them grow up?

So
Every player needs to just be selfish? Batum is a perfect complimentary player doing all the little things. What do we want for him to shoot every time he touches the ball like Crawford? This team is being mismanaged. Watch what happens by the playoffs. Enjoy the cheap wins. It’s one and done on the backs of 30 year old players. Way to plan ahead.
I'd have called it
Had Smith not been so selfish.
