Gameday Open Thread: Grizzlies vs. Blazers

No rest for the weary. Tonight, the Memphis Grizzlies visit the Rose Garden to play the Portland Trail Blazers (7:10 tip-off). Don't sleep on the Grizz, they've bounced back from the Randolph injury behind a core of Mike Conley Jr, Rudy Gay, and Marc Gasol. Plus their bench has been playing well recently. Can Portland pick up a home win against a fellow playoff contender?

Read: Dave's Preview | Blazers Media Notes | Facebook | Ben's onsite updates on Twitter
Watch: Comcast Sportsnet (Portland) | Blazers live streaming | NBA TV (National). There is no league pass coverage tonight!
Listen: 750 AM The Game (Portland) | NBA Audio League Pass (Free)

The usual rules apply:

1. No swearing | 2. No pictures | 3. Be Nice!
4. Don't discuss unofficial game streaming

And, of course, have fun. Go Blazers! -- Tim

I'm actually more relaxed on Nolan than I was earlier

I don’t think anything of him in particular, but there is a level worse than being invisible. Being invisible at least means you’re not actively hurting the team.

I’m cool giving him some room to grow at the moment.

by Timmay! on Jan 24, 2012 7:46 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, his handle and mechanics look good

That’s more than can be said for any of our more recent PG projects

by HailOden! on Jan 24, 2012 7:47 PM PST up reply actions

Agreed. He's not a difference maker (yet?) But certainly he's not hurting the team.

He’s not turning the ball over for starters and really, all he does is bring the ball up and then pass to Crawford.

by Stryder9 on Jan 24, 2012 7:49 PM PST up reply actions

I'm just not seeing much NBA skill in Nolan Smith

His upside looks to be like fellow Duke player Chris Duhon.

Batum has been in the game 6 minutes

And not one person has passed him the ball yet. Not one play called for him. Some of that is on him for sure, but still.

by heybabydrinkyourmilk on Jan 24, 2012 7:45 PM PST via mobile reply actions

gotta be frustrating

and he tried to force it in a bad play when he did get it

PHILLY!

by CleBlazer on Jan 24, 2012 7:47 PM PST up reply actions

The scouting report on Crawford is easy.

Once he starts a crossover dribble or two it means he’s going to shoot.

by Stryder9 on Jan 24, 2012 7:45 PM PST reply actions

After getting that second delay of game call, I hope Rice shuts his annoying trap about the refs.

Also, Crawford’s absence on D against O.J. Mayo there was repulsive. That lack of effort pisses me off to no end.

by AK1984 on Jan 24, 2012 7:46 PM PST reply actions

Crawford is just so erratic from game to game

I dont know if its because his shot arc is so damn high or not, but he’s stone cold one game and lights it up the next. Sadly, h’s more cold than hot on aggregate
