Greene: Blazers Remain Felton's First Choice
Lang Greene of HoopsWorld.com reports that Portland Trail Blazers guard Raymond Felton still wants to be in Portland long-term.
----------------------------
"They [Blazers officials] know I want to be here," Felton told HOOPSWORLD. "I’ve told them that and we talked about it earlier in the summer so they know that already. I love it here in Portland. I want to be here leading the team. I feel like we have a winning team here, so hopefully we can get something done."
...
Felton wouldn’t rule out signing with a team in rebuilding mode if a deal cannot be reached with Portland – his first choice.
"I can’t say where I won’t go or where I’ll go because I just want to play basketball," Felton said. "At the same time, a person wants to get what they feel like they’re worth and deserve."
----------------------------
Felton preached patience on Wednesday night as he works through his struggles.

Then step your game up
cause right now your not worth as much as the rookie that sits on the bench behind you.
At the same time, a person wants to get what they feel like they’re worth and deserve.
In a nutshell why players expect huge payouts compared to us working stiffs. I really can’t blame them, just a product of their environment.

at least he's not looking for
an out-of-this-world contract (good ole’ Trout)

If all he wants is what he is worth, and deserves...
I say pay the man! 50th PG in the league in PER should be had at about the league minimum, right? I’ll take a flyer that he’ll improve, and start working out and eating like someone who is serious about being a pro athlete…
If we still had Andre, I bet we’d have won at least 2 o 3 of the games we lost. We got HOSED!!
On the radio Brian berger came up with this trade
Felton, Camby, Batum go to boston for Rondo, bass, o’niel…..
Just curious what your thoughts are about it. Personally i would like it, rondo is a stud.
I don't see Boston doing that
I would be all for Rondo and Bass

the whole reasonsing was becuase celtics came out and said htey would be willing to trade if it helped them in the future
and gettin two expiring contracts and unloading a big contract will help then in next years FA’s market.
I guess I'd need to know more about O'neal's contract
if moves that hurt us in the long term aren’t going to vault us into contention in the short term then we need to be careful, but on the surface it certainly seems like a good trade for us

He's expiring.
Pierce and Rondo are the C’s only big contracts on the books after this year, to my knowledge.
Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!
I'd pull the trigger on that
Rondo an Batum are probably the highest value players in that trade and Rondo>Batum by far.
From what I understand about Rondo
He’s way more than 3/4ths nuts.
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice they're not.

I would not have a problem with the Blazers re-signing Felton if.....
1. Blazers can get nothing else
2. If Blazers sign him for extremely cheap
3. If the Blazers sign him as the backup point guard
4. re-signing Felton is the only way Wallace stays
5. If Felton gets his act together and starts playing like a starter
That being said I think that the Blazers would be wise to look in a different direction for a point guard if possible.
Here are some names to look at in the off season for some point guard help:
Deron Williams. He is an all-star and will command a max deal. All signs point to him opting out and then re-signing with New Jersey so he can get more money.
Steve Nash. He may be old, but he is still one of the best of the best offensive point guards in the league. He makes everyone around him better on offense, but makes everyone else work harder on Defense
Chauncy Billups. He is also an old Point Guard, but he still is a very effective outside shooter and passer. While he does not attack the basket as much as he used to he could be an effective point guard with the right players around him.
Jameer Nelson. He has a player option next year and there is no indication of what Nelson will do. He is not an ideal starting Point Guard and his numbers continue to decline every year substantially.
D.J. Augustin is having a career year in Charlotte and will most likely refuse the qualifying offer made by Charlotte. He is a good passer and pretty quick. He can shoot from range well, but is a liability on defense due to his size. One positive is that he is only 24 and still has room for improvement, and has yet to play with a team as talented as Portland.
Other names to consider, but not necessarily as starting Point Guard material
Mo Williams
Aaron Brooks
Goran Dragic
Jason Terry (combo guard)
George Hill (combo guard)
Kirk Hinrich (combo guard)
I like all 10 of these guys better than Felton at this point.
Hopefully by the end of the year Felton will be better than some of them.
And okay, honestly I don’t know how all 10 of these guys are doing right now, but I’m just so disappointed in Felton.

It is way to early to tell
Most of the players you named has already been scratched off the list as not becoming or wants to become a Blazer, or we just can’t afford them.
hg
DJ Augustin seems like a wise play when none of the big names work out
He’s young, solid, has played with Crash, and could be had with a toxic offer. Charlotte is cash-strapped, already has Kemba Walker as Augustin’s replacement, and may be open to a sign and trade.

I would feel more patient towards Felton if...
… I felt like he was making more of an effort to tailor his game to Aldridge. I think he’s making things hard for the team’s star player by throwing crappy waist high passes in traffic. Aldridge has to work extra hard to collect the ball.
For contrast, see Aldridge’s comments re: playing with Miller: “He makes the game easier for the big man. I think that was my easiest year offensively because he was so smart and so good with the ball. If teams tried to double team me, he would tell me where to go. If teams tried to front me, he’d throw it to the rim.”
Did Felton watch any of that tape?!
Thats what I was saying all along. LMA's improvement last year was a feather in Dre's cap.
Has Felton found him at the rim yet? If so, I dont remember. I know Camby has a lot more than our starting pg.

Go away cupcake.

Just keep training
man, don’t pay attention to haters and the haters will love you once your game improves to the NY level. I definately see this coming. The guy just needs some time, this season is crazy and Raymond is on a new team. Crawford plays crap as well. Did these guys forget how to play? Don’t they have sufficient talent? No, they just need some time in this crazy season with no real preparations beforehand.
