Mayo anyone?
What I don't get is how a team can try and trade a guy twice and utterly fail, and then expect him to compete on a playoff team with a significant role. Now I think if they are willing to trade O.J. which in all likely-hood they are, cause they do not plan on matching the offers he will get in July when he is a RFA ( he is not going to get signed by Jan 25) so they will move him on/before the trade deadline. So I ask you this why don't we step in and pick him up for cheap since we won't have to give up a Batum (they have Gay and Pondexter) we can send Jamal + pick for O.J. and be on our way or We$ and a pick? I am just a bit perplexed no one on here has asked this, since OJ is an excellent player, who is in an uncomfortable situation we could be taking advantage of.

no. wait till next summer before we make any moves.
this team hasn’t even been playing together for a full month yet.
A displaced Sonics fan that has somehow emerged as a Blazers fan (and loves it).

I dunno - I can't picture Mayo fitting in on this team.
I know he’s a talent and he can score and defend decently, but needs the ball a lot to be effective. He also has a huge ego and a poor reputation for being a team player. Someone convince me.
he is a more well rounded player than Crawford
if it were straight across id do it.
Mustard...arrrrrgh
Way to kill a stupid joke.
Seriously,it would seem to be a problem.
The catch w/Mayo is he seems to be a decent 3pt shooter who plays some defense. Don’t the Blazers already have that covered in Wes and Batum?
Mayo would come way cheaper than that. (Josh McRoberts cheap)
I think he is a dominant scorer and is better than anything we have at the 2 right now, even though I love Wes.
I vote YES
Batum Shakalaka
Mayo wouldn't be happy in Crawford's role
he’s young (and still looking for his payday) and unless you plan on shipping out Wes for Mayo (I like capable D over capable O any day of the week), there is no way to do this without destroying long-term chemistry. Wes and OJ wouldn’t be compatable like Wes and Crawford.
Mayo sucks.
Maybe he sucks less than Crawford (hard to say, they suck in kind of different ways), but he’s much worse than Wes. Not anything resembling a savior.
Lol he is much worse then Wes?
I have been reading some garbage on here today.
Uh, yes.
Wesley is a slightly above average SG—he scores more efficiently than average (1.3 points per shot compares to around 1.2). He doesn’t rebound or assist as much, but he steals a little more and most importantly doesn’t turn the ball over. He’s also a little better than average defensively—a little short and unathletic, but he moves well and doesn’t take possessions off.
OJ is roughly comparable but slightly worse scorer (1.2 points per shot). He rebounds better than average, but coughs the ball over an ungodly amount. He’s also a much more unreliable defender.
Overall he adds more but subtracts a lot more. I don’t like Wes that much—like I said, I consider him a slightly above average player—but I’d take him over OJ any day.

OJ is in a completely different role
If Wes$ was in a postion to being the scorer off the bench you better believe his TO rate would skyrocket. Either way he is no where near “MUCH worse” then Wes.
Crawford
If Mayo ever plays a whole year good basketball, then lets sit down and discuss about it…BUT,he has done nothing in his career and the only think he does is play some good games and then disappear…Crawford was a game changer at the Atlanta Hawks for 2 years, just go and see his numbers game by game and you will understand why we should be very happy to have him at the team…By far,he has done bad games, but lets wonder, who is our back up point guardwho else is a true shooting guard in the teamdo we have a true center??When somebody answers these, then you will find the answer why the same player was a terrific player from the bench and the same time he cant do these things in our team…PLUS,he didnt have a regular training camp and i think that the NBA season should start one month after the start of the training camps, that means something like these days,if i am not wrong…JAMAL CRAWFORD has to stay here…
If Mayo ever plays a whole year good basketball, then lets sit down and discuss about it…
if Mayo ever plays a full season (or half of one, for that matter) anywhere near his potential, he’s going to be way too expensive for the blazers to pick up. The dude has star POTENTIAL, and he’s in a bad situation which very likely is the reason he isn’t living up to it.
He might help us
ketchup to the rest of the conference leaders.
I’d relish the opportunity.

Wesley for OJ Mayo would be a great trade for both teams, in my opinion.
He has something that Wesley doesnt: star potential. This team needs another star. As much as I love Wesley, I don’t see him ever becoming a star player, which is what this team needs most at the moment. He could be a starter on a contending team as the 4th-5th option as he is right now, and honestly would probably fit pretty well in Memphis, but we don’t need that right now.
OJ on the other hand may have not done much so far in his career but it has more to do with the situation that he’s in more then anything. I think he’ll be a great player on a team not named Memphis someday and his trade value is pretty low right now. Assuming whoever picks him up gives him the opportunity to live up to his potential, I doubt he’ll disappoint. Hopefully it’s the Blazers
mayo vs wesley
perhaps i would do the same thing, trade wesley for mayo…I love wesley but i would prefer have another guy that would be a good scorer or a great scorer(i dont know)with hard work…i would like raymond and jamal and mayo…raymond and jamal will be much better later in the season and nate has to play some other guys at the point guard immediately…
what Mayo brings on offense
is lost on defense his defense. Matthews is far superior in that regard & a more complete player. No way I’d swap our starter for a bench player, though I’m sure Memphis would lol.
Yes. I've been saying this for over a year.
Mayo is EXACTLY what we need coming off the bench. Who to trade, though? That’s always the rub.

Wesley for Mayo and a first.
PLEASE.
Or, Babbitt, Johnson, 1st for Mayo.
Mayo is an ELITE talent who, when given the minutes, has the potential to be a top 25 player in this league.
Batum Shakalaka
he has elite offensive talent
though he is quite nonchalant on defense.
No way you give up a two way player in Matthews(though his offense is limited, he can hit open shots, get open off the ball & finish at the rim), in return for OJ Mayo.
I've seen a lot of Mayo and it seems like he always gives max effort.
He certainly has the physical tools to be a good defender, and I think he could be in a McMillan system. And the Achilles heel of this team has been offensive droughts. I think Mayo would be the perfect guy to fix that.
Batum Shakalaka
