Is there some special shoes that can be made for Camby's high risk ankles...? At this point it should be a given that his ankles are only a matter of when not if they will roll and get injured. His support system in his ankles has worn out and over stretched from all the years of injury. You know how they got Stephen Curry with some special shoes maybe they can get Camby some special ones to reduce him rolling his ankles in the future.

Special shoes, now?

I think they’re called ‘high tops’.

i already said they engineered something special for stephen curry....

so that means there are options which could be more effective than the obvious high tops. Nice try though to appear smart by putting down someone making a proper suggestion..

The stronger the support

The weaker it will allow the ankle to get. Assuming Camby has already done pre-hab work on his ankles before, there really isn’t much left to do.

It's not a simplistic answer

and just because you don’t want to hear it, doesn’t mean it’s not true. If there were in fact some magical shoe that would prevent ankles from being rolled, don’t you think every player would be wearing them? Hell, even ankle braces don’t really do anything for you. The amount of torque generated at the ankle when things go bad cannot be stopped by leather and plastic.

Yes it is a simplistic answer. Just because not everyone is looking into it doesnt mean

it would not help them. Camby is a special case of fragile ankles and all I am asking for is perhaps to look into something special for him if it has not already been done so..

He already wears high tops.

And if there was a special shoe, at his age, i don’t think he’ll be experimenting with a different shoe. It’s just the way he is, he’s only got like a year or so left in him so I think he’s been holding up pretty good considering the other centers on the roster. lol.

Also Camby should do light jogging on barefeet or try one of those new weird shoes with toes to do light running with

the Human feet are manufactured by nature in order to function their best on their own. The natural support system in one’s feet will get weaker if you keep wearing shoes that do the job that the ligaments and tendons are supposed to do to keep stability in them. Im sure before modern shoes were invented people were not rolling there ankles like crazy all the time. When I was back in India me and my friends were always very physically active and we used to play only in flip-flops. I never saw any of my friends go down once holding their ankle. We used to play soccer, jump off walls and trees all the time.

After I came to America I have seen people mess up their ankle all the time. People here only wear shoes all the time and if the body is not forced to maintain the strength of something, then it will not in order to preserve its energy.

It is something Camby or people like him should try out. There is proper science behind this and is very applicable. Start out slowly with barefeet in a smooth surface like basketball court. Do light shoot arounds and such until you slowly develop strength in your natural supportive system for your ankles.

you're all over the place on this

above, you’re demanding to know why there isn’t a shoe to fix the problem, and here you’re preaching about how shoes cause the problem in the first place. Whaaa?

Those shoes would be worn in-game or durng hard practice...not all the time

strengthening your ankles during free time is what I am talking about. It is not really that whaaaaa..Okay? Good.

I made my point. What I said in my OP is a simple inquiry and suggestion.

If it is not do-able then that is that. It never hurts inquire about a possible solution to a problem.

Actually I was wondering the same thing...

Looking past the traditional aids like tape and ‘hi tops’. The issue, I am thinking, is allowing the ankle to flex freely most of the time, but offer support beyond a certain amount of rotatation or twist.
I was thinking a very ‘high top’ anlke shell holding some titanium (light + strong) exterior frame rails going down to sliding attachments on a relatively snug shoe. The slide is for acceptable ankle flexibility, but it stops at an adjustable point where ‘no mas’ is to be allowed. Just maybe it could reduce the severity of a full foot side roll by engaging and supporting the foot at that critical, major ‘ow’ point (if you sprained your ankle, you know that point – very painful). It could look really cool too, kind of an ‘exoskeleton’.
For our players, cost no object. Should be doable.

(knee exoskeleton could be the next project).

I think cables are much better than rods, for what you describe.

They only limit motion in one direction, and they could be made out of magical spider silk, which would be great for marketing.
