Ranking the Top 10 Power Forwards in the NBA
After Kevin Love was quoted saying he believes he is the best 4 in the game ( In a humble, Eli Manning type way) Bleacher Report did theTop 10 Power Forwards in the NBA right now. You'll see some familiar faces, in maybe, a surprising order.

I try not to listen to that site
mainly cause it has people who say stuff like this
I concur.
It was fun during the lockout, what with them pulling new good news out of no news, and all.
I don't always root for an NBA franchise, but when I do, I prefer the Portland Trail Blazers.

Did I read that correctly?
Did they give LMA the top spot? Awesome on the props, but I agree that Dirk is probably better. Although, LMA might be the better-rounded. Dirk can also be effectively guarded for stretches one-on-one (though not when he gets it going!). LMA, by contrast, can consistently score on almost any single defender.
I would correct Love’s statement: The best power forward in the game at filling out his own box score. His offensive skill set, while admittedly good, does not come nearly as close to commanding the attention of the opposition’s D as LMA’s or several others on the list.

on an unrelated note
I absolutely abhor website that make me view “top X” lists by clicking through them 1 by 1 in a slideshow type format. This convention cannot die fast enough for me.

All may be bias....
But this list is pretty accurate…. What separates the other PF from LMA is Defense.
Any PF can rebound, and score… But not all can defense a good as LMA.
Think about it LMA can defend any of the top 10 when they play and get matched up, but not all can defend LMA.

kevin love
Is right, easily the best power forward in the nba by a wide margin. Gritty inside game, can shoot the three and can offensive rebound like crazy. Love lamarcus but id kill to have love in a blazers uniform.

What great OdensRaven said below.
He don’t play no D, mang.
He definitely has an argument about being the best PF in the game with the bangin’ stats, but the head to head always gets me. It’s a little homerism maybe, but whenever I see LA play against Love or Griffin, I never walk away thinking these guys would help my team win more than LA, not even a little bit. It always seems like LA still get’s his, but defends these guys into mediocrity when he plays them.
Now, Dirk on the other hand…that’s crazy talk. LA plays him decent head to head to, but the dude’s an established Hall of Famer and we had a whole series last year to show LA hasn’t eclipsed him yet..
Love definitely is not a fantastic defender, but I dont see a fantastic defender in the top five of that list either. LA is better on D hands down, his natural athleticism allows him to be a better shot blocker (just barely though, he’s averaging .7 bpg this year) but I don’t think he’s an elite defender by any means, he’s still outplayed on defense by Camby at this point. I was in Minneapolis over the holidays and went to the twolves season opener and watching Love play was fun. One thing that stood out was that although he doesn’t get many assists his passing is surprisingly impressive, especially his outlet passes after he grabs a board.
Camby is not better than LMA as a defender
And LMA may not have fancy defensive stats, but he plays some of the best team defense and pick and roll D in the NBA. One of the more underrated defenders in the NBA, although he isn’t nearly as underrated as he was before last season.
Love is extremely skilled, and probably the most skilled big man in the NBA not named Dirk Nowitzki. But he’s a loser. He is not an Aldridge, Lebron, Dirk, Kyle Lowry, Steve Nash, or Dwight Howard type of player whose absence would sink a team from playoff threat (contender in the case of Lebron, Dirk, and Howard) to lottery fodder.
Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!
but no defense, that’s how he gets so many rebounds. He gives up good defensive positioning to get those boards

Dirk is probably still better than LMA this year
and it was interesting looking at that list how almost nobody on there plays much D. Power forwards are all about offense, and centers all about defense currently it seems.

It's sad, really...
if Kevin Love is buying into his own hype. I didn’t see the interview so I don’t know if the quote was taken out of context. However, if it is accurate, it does not bode well for his long term development into a championship caliber player. Imagine how different you might think of him if instead he said, " I’m putting up some great numbers and my offensive game is really coming round. But to win a championship I know I’ve got to work on my defense. Defense and making my teammates better is what will take us to the next level."
Perhaps he’ll grow up and mature.
I don’t know if LA is #1, but I have no doubt that right now he is a better OVERALL player and more of a winner than KL.
