Gameday Open Thread: Magic vs. Blazers (First Half)

Don't look now, but it's another game. Tonight, a rested Orlando Magic play the Portland Trail Blazers (Tip off 7:10pm). Believe it or not, the Magic have been hanging around town since their last game Sunday. On the third game in four nights, can the Blazers keep up with Orlando?

Injury report: All's quiet.

tired of being tired used an excuse too, this is a horrible job following a gameplan. You can’t be uptempo either when you are taking the ball out of the basket every time down the court

by Peteyhasnohead on Jan 11, 2012 7:44 PM PST reply actions

We need to push the pace.

But everybody is so lazy that it’s just not happening. We need a sweet rebound from Wallace with a great outlet pass to a streaking Batum for an easy dunk, get the crowd energized and our team back in it mentally.

by Leif Jensen on Jan 11, 2012 7:53 PM PST reply actions

I do think it's better if Howard gets his points. First of all, we know Howard can't close games. Secondly

his teammates will pass him up in the 4th and start chucking. So better start focusing on the 3 point shooters.

Orlando is not a good team. They just shoot 3’s all game long and if they aren’t hitting they lose. This is why they never win in the playoffs.

Reminds me of one of the classic heavy weight boxing matches...

The Blazers have been knocked down three times in the first six rounds but somehow keep standing…

He's 1-6 now

And two of his 4 assists were very lenient gimme’s by the scorekeeper

Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB

Jamal Crawford

Great shot selection, better defense

bad shot, bad d, bad rebounding effort on that sequence

could be difference between 10 and 14/15 at the half.

Felton is not dishing the ball like last night.

His game will build off of that. He’s making some terrible decisions out there tonight.

by CoryBauer on Jan 11, 2012 8:05 PM PST reply actions

You know what keeds?

How would WE feel if the Blazers had played like the Magic on their home court and end the first half only up by 12-15. Personally, I’d be worried…

Felton

Am I the only one that is sick of Felton’s terrible shot selection?

by robertjcase on Jan 11, 2012 8:06 PM PST reply actions

No...

One hail mary doesn’t erase every other bad shot. (And that was not a good shot either.)

still can’t figure how we sag off anderson on that play.

down 12 all things considered is actually not bad.

we need to step up the defense

give the ball to la and try and get anderson in foul trouble

by jpark on Jan 11, 2012 8:07 PM PST reply actions

defense stepped up last 5 minutes

need to sustain it now. and for God’s sake, just stay home on the perimeter

gotta be out on their shooters

specifically Anderson, and then keep attacking on offense and keep the pressure on them and ride the crowd to a comeback. Thats our recipe to bring this back

by Peteyhasnohead on Jan 11, 2012 8:08 PM PST reply actions

were still in this

Nate the Great will make some halftime adjusments, we win at very end or in ot

by cavejunctionblazer on Jan 11, 2012 8:09 PM PST reply actions

We need our wings to be glued to their 3 point shooters.

I don’t care if Howard goes for 30/15 tonight, as long as we can contain Anderson, Hedo and JJ from making anymore 3 buckets.

The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.

make howard beat us but play some hard d on everyone else

by cavejunctionblazer on Jan 11, 2012 8:11 PM PST up reply actions

That should have been the game plan from the start.

Is it a coaching issue that we came in ill-prepared for this?

by Stryder9 on Jan 11, 2012 8:12 PM PST up reply actions

Mike and Mike

Getting tired of hearing how “hot” Orlando is. The Blazer defense was terrible for the first 18 minutes of this game. Shocking that NBA players can make uncontested shots.

by robertjcase on Jan 11, 2012 8:10 PM PST reply actions

if you take away the 8 we spotted them

they only gained 4 on us. a few minutes of shut down D and a few of our guys getting hot and we’ve got a chance

by permaswoon on Jan 11, 2012 8:18 PM PST reply actions

Hmmm....

Would have been nice to go in under ten but this isn’t terrible considering Orlando’s been sleeping the last two days. It looks like the momentum is coming around and we aren’t calling this shit in right now.
