His offense seems like it would mesh perfectly with LMA

Both have an offensive skill set that extends from the post to about 20 feet out. On any possession either could post up while the other helps spread the floor. PDX needs to get him on the roster next season.

ok let's do it

I’ll have my secretary put in a call to Paul in the morning. Heck, I don’t see why we can’t bring him over right away. He’ll probably want to get in on the championship rings this year instead of waiting till next year. What number does he want to wear?

This is my signature. Do you like it?

Agreed.

This highlight reel…

… has some pretty epic moments. The dribble drive at 1:07 shows great quickness, and at 1:25 he dunks all over Rudy’s face.

Won't Freeland be a free agent once his season is over?

So can we bring him over as soon as his season is over in time for the Playoffs?

yes

But he was making about $3.5 million a year and probably due for a raise. So I doubt he comes over for his rookie salary.

I'm not clear on the rules of signing a pick from 4 years ago

If there is anyone to offer a truncated version of the rookie scale so that he’s up for a raise in a season or two then they should do that. We clearly have a glaring hole at center we need filled for next season. He’ll get playing time and if he can hack it, he’ll get paid.

Think Tiago Splitter

We can pay him whatever we want. Meaning we could pay him the full MLE if we wanted to, of course not this season, but during the offseason we could throw a much more attractive short term deal at him something like 3 years 12 million and just continue stressing that if he produces then he’s in for a big raise once his “rookie” scale contract is up.

The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.

Also he has stressed having a role on the team in interviews

Seeing as how Camby and Thomas are well into their twilight years (and Only Thomas is on the books next season) I’d say that he would get his wish. Even if Odens playing there will be plenty of court time available as his minutes would almost certainly be limited.

Interesting look at Freeland...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7Pt1lHdh1E

An interview after a loss to Turkey at Eurobasket shows Freeland to be intensely competitive. Dude does not take losing lightly.

I’m starting to get very excited about this fella, and less concerned about Oden.
