Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

On Sunday night, the rapper Lil Wayne tweeted that he was hanging out with Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy after performing in Seattle.
---------------------
Seattle was one of, if not the best shows yet! Afterparty at iMusic with my homies Jamal Crawford and Brandon Roy...party time!!!!!
---------------------

It's been a little more than a year since Roy made the strangest cameo in rap music video history, and then apologized. Time flies.

Wayne's new album, Carter IV, is available on iTunes.

Weezy just rhymes whatever he wants

guy is one of the smartest rappers I’ve ever heard. His use of colloquialisms, rhetoric, and metaphors is pretty impressive in my opinion (though you’re allowed to have your opinion too).

While this is true...

I don’t think Weezy would understand what a colloquialism is if you said it in front of him. Fool is retarded. Have you watched the documentary The Carter? It’s really good and gives an incredibly vivid picture into an insane, deluded, strung out drug user who’s on top of the world, and has nobody to check his ego for him. Fascinating stuff, I can’t say I’m a fan of his music, but some of his lyrics are quite impressive.

The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.

thanks for the sarcasm Sir ;)

I’m a big fan of Q Tip from A Tribe Called Quest, Lupe Fiasco, Cee Lo Green, Kid Cudi, Wale, Kanye, Pharcyde, Biggie, Rza, Ghostface, Deltron, Clipse, among many other hip-hop and rap artists, not to mention countless Indie, Rock, and Alt bands/musicians.

and being a fan of all that, I can honestly say Weezy is one of the better, if not one of the best, rappers out there in terms of voice, honesty, philosophy, and the ‘it’ factor.

something about rapping in a high pitch...

Makes me think of a high school girl excited because a boy talked to them in between classes.

Good thing auto-tune can fix all the bad voices. When’s Roy gonna “drop” his new album? I think it was titled I should still start regardless how it affects the team. Or was it titled teIam

Best one is the Outro

Cause Nas and Busta go hard, and Wayne isn’t on it.

i didn’t think it was as good as his no ceilings mixtape, but good nonetheless.

I haven't heard anything

from wayne for a while that I was impressed with. Wasn’t impressed with the watch the throne album from J and Kanye either. Wish Nas would put a new album out, and wish J would stop putting out Z100 top hits songs. I didn’t think I would but the more I listen to Tyler the Creator the more I start to like him, his lyrics are a bit off the wall but its nice to hear something a little different. All of YMCMB sound the same, and thats all anyone wants to talk about these days.

Also a big Cudi fan

wish the guy would get his album out.

by AR-15 on Sep 5, 2011 12:30 PM PDT up reply actions

i can't believe tyler the creator won over wiz khalifa

such a shame, TTC imo is just trying to be wayne a little too much. haven’t listened to the throne yet, just a few songs here and there, and the last time nas song i can remember downloading had to have been this one.

lately i’ve been on the BoB and Red Cafe hype.

I did expect him to win though. I couldn’t believe it when they called Tyler.

I had da drought 3 on my ipod non stop for an entire summer

I was Wayne’s number 1 white fan…until the carter 3… it was pop BS. He made his money and stopped trying. I dare you to deny it.

You'd be surprised how many "number 1 white fans" Lil Wayne has.

I absolutely would admit that Drought 3 was my favorite of his albums

and I still appreciate his contributions to the Rap game

however, I understand being letdown and therefore deciding you want to quit the Weezy bandwagon

lil wayne and tpain put autotune on the map

it’s all these other wannabes ruining it. autotune can be cool if used correctly.

Used correctly, it is searching for oil - not making music
Auto-Tune’s inventor is a man named Andy Hildebrand, who worked for years interpreting seismic data for the oil industry. Using a mathematical formula called autocorrelation, Hildebrand would send sound waves into the ground and record their reflections, providing an accurate map of potential drill sites. It’s a technique that saves oil companies lots of money and allowed Hildebrand to retire at 40. He was debating the next chapter of his life at a dinner party when a guest challenged him to invent a box that would allow her to sing in tune. After he tinkered with autocorrelation for a few months, Auto-Tune was born in late 1996.

Every time Lil’ Wayne starts singin’, my initial reaction is that a cat just got run over on the street. Then I realize it’s just the radio.

by Doot Chet on Sep 7, 2011 6:08 PM PDT reply actions

if you're inside your house and you hear Weezy come on the radio...

you assume its a cat screeching so loud after being run over that you hear it 100s of yards away through walls?

you [would] have great hearing then, Sir
