NBA and Ref's Association agree on new contract
The NBA and the referee's association have agreed on a new five-year contract. The previous agreement expired on Sept. 1, and the NBA was faced with the possibility of using replacement refs when the season started up again.

And still we have a new agreement only 2 weeks after the old one really expired (talks began earlier as noted in the article)
Stern can use as many obscene remarks as he wants if that helps to get a deal done :-)
