Every nba team is allowed one super salary spot. With that salary spot each team can spend as much as they want on one salary. And either the superstar player or team may terminate the contract after 3 years... if the player's performance drops off or the team's management stinks. This allows for a sharing of superstars. No more lebron and wade, no more gasol and kobe, no more amare and melo. Plus guys like chris paul may opt for places like Portland over hanging out with his buddies in NYC.
Lets face it, the biggest threat to the NBA is the ongoing stockpiling of talent in a few markets. Yes it has worked in the past with the rivalry between Boston and LA but that storyline is outdated and needs to be put to rest.
Teams like the Bucks, the Wolves, and the Bobcats will have a legit superstar and a legit chance at a championship.
The big markets will still get the Lebron's of the world because they will outbid for the best individual player, but they will only get ONE superstar.
Plus it will be good for PDX because of PA's bank account.
