L.A Businessman buying majority stake in Atlanta Hawks
An Atlanta newspaper reports that the Hawks have reached an agreement with a California pizza chain owner and developer, Alex Meruelo. Meruelo, who will be the league's first Hispanic owner, insists that the team will remain in Atlanta.
Meruelo opened his first business, a pizza restaurant, when he was 21 years old. His business has grown to include a chain of 50 restaurants, residential and commercial real-estate developments, construction and engineering, a bank, a motel-casino, and a TV station.

Good. That ownership situation in ATL was a mess.
Sounds like another pretty hands-on younger owner taking over an NBA team.
I know what you're saying
but the Anaheim Hawks, certainly has a ring to it

he owns a pizza chain called 'La Pizza Loca' (lol)
and he owns the Grand Sierra Hotel and Casino in Reno, one of the dumpiest spots ever (having lived there for 3 years)
Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies—God dammit, you've got to be kind.

I'm from Cali. I tried La Pizza Loca once
I didnt have high standards at the time and I couldn’t finish it. It was horrible. I have new faith in the business I’m starting knowing this guy made mills with pizza that tasted regurgitated and a Hotel in a dumpy location.
thats kind of disappointing
I was hoping maybe he could help grow the Hawks brand, not use it as a bank account.
i like it here, there, everywhere.
lol
the Grand Sierra used to be the Reno Hilton.
before I was of legal age, I used to sneak in and play Texas Hold Em there.
