TalkBasket.net reports that Panionios of Greece has announced the signing of Portland Trail Blazers guard Jon Diebler, a 2011 second round pick, to a one-year contract. The Blazers selected Diebler with the No. 51 pick out of Ohio State University. While introducing Diebler to the media, Blazers acting GM Chad Buchanan said he expected the guard to play overseas but praised his shooting as "an NBA skill." Hat tip: European Correspondent Brother Wendell Maxey here Update: Bob Baptist of BuckeyeExtra.com reports that Diebler's contract is worth "well over" $100,000 but it does not have an NBA opt-out clause. ------------------- "I'm there for the year," Diebler said. "With the lockout, it put a twist on things. I'm definitely a guy who would benefit from a full (training) camp instead of a shortened one." Diebler said he and his agent and the Blazers discussed him playing overseas during the week between the draft and the start of the lockout. "Portland's been great. They want what's best for me." ------------------- -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
