A way to improve revenue for the league.
I watched some highlights of the Bad Boys with my son and thought a good idea for the NBA to increase viewers would be have cage basketball. Cage all around the court. Only one ref who usually only stops play to have a doctor take a look at a player to see if he can continue. A break between each of four quarters and no timeouts. I know some of you will have thoughts on how to improve cage basketball, please feel free to opine.

What they should do
is bring back that league that was around a few years ago that had trampolines in the court. Trampolines + NBA players = awesome

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

That would be Slamball, partially funded by (then) 76ers owner Pat Croce, who also did TV analyst work.
They were on TNN, which changed its name to Spike TV during that period, so that’s probably where you associate the name. They went through so many networks during their run… apparently even Cartoon Network! A quick search says they apparently still broadcast games over the Internet.
Slamball was awesome
Here is an article about how the creators are trying to bring it back. It includes this line:
Televising SlamBall in 3-D is another goal, along with making it an Olympic sport.
Wow, I think you just made my night
pure awesomeness right there.

anything! I will NOT become interested in the NFL just to appease my need for sports!

As if basketball wasn't already the most injurious sport
If you’re going to institue a cage then ther would have to be hockey-style line changes of players. That would make fast breaks more interesting. Also, the cage (and unifroms) should be made with velcro to catch players when they trampoline into the walls. This would incentivise player to avoid the walls to prevent fast breaks.
Well lets face it,
NBA refs have been proven to have a few things in common with their counterparts in the WWF. Why not go ahead and take it all the way with the Spanish announcers’ table and the folding chairs with blood packs too?

In the VERY early days of basketball
games were played on courts surrounded by a cage, which is why players are still sometimes referred to as “cagers.” The rules at the time also mandated a jump ball after every basket scored.
True story. You can look it up.

improve the League?
how ‘bout quit letting the Lakers cheat.
With 2 dream trades right around the corner for David Stern’s favorite team, (Dwight Howard for Andrew Bynum, and Lamar Odom for Blake Griffin) there’s no way to make this league fair and balanced if the Lakers get to turn lead into gold. Therefore, the NBA’s Commisioner will not be able to raise his tower until his L.A. biased league gets rebuilt from ground up on a level surface.

Find the proper pricing equalibrium
I will never forget the lesson of my old Econ prof. You know your product (world of entertainment) is properly priced when it is near but not quite a sellout. The theory being that if virtually no one comes it means you are overpriced for the product you offering (see Pacers last year). If you sell out right away it means you were technically under priced for the quality product you offer. In order to maximize your revenues one should find the sweet spot that will have fans pay as much as possible and be left with a virtually sold out arena.
very interesting
If the owners were smart, they’d slash ticket prices, then turn to the players and say “See, we’re trying to make you guys more popular, but we can’t afford to pay you that much because tickets are dirt cheap.”
