Favorite and least favorite jerseys.
Since the lockout is a downer, it seems like the time is right for a lighthearted topic.
That said, here's a topic: What's everyone's favorite and least favorite NBA jerseys?
My favorite current jerseys are the blue alternates worn by the Los Angeles Clippers.

My least favorite current jerseys are in a tie. It's between the orange alternates worn by the Phoenix Suns and the yellow alternates worn by the New Orleans Hornets.
The Suns should stick to purple, while the Hornets should stick to creole blue.
My favorite jerseys in history — aside from the Seattle SuperSonics old green and gold look from my youth — are the silver alternates worn by the early-2000s New Jersey Nets or the expansion era road uniforms worn by the Orlando Magic. It's a toss-up.
My least favorite jerseys in history are the expansion era road uniforms worn by the Toronto Raptors.
As y'all can see, I have a thing for alternates. Guess I just plain fancy them. Alternates aside, though, my favorite current jerseys are the Dallas Mavericks road uniforms -- as those have got a clean, crisp look -- while my least favorite current jerseys are the Washington Wizards recently unveiled uniforms, which don't fit the modern style.

Personally,
I don’t mind the Suns’ orange uniform. However, the others I completely agree with.
And I think I’d go for the Boston green and black as my favorite:

Yeah, the Boston Celtics have a classic look. The Celtics and the color green fit perfectly together, too.
Regarding the color green, I hate when the New York Knicks don their alternates. Green looks ugly on them.

I too am a big fan of the boston Jerseys
Just a nice shade of green. Not too “look at me” but not wallflowerry either.
yeah, those are nice,
just the name detracting…. now Byrd would be perfect.
Dump Stern ! He has failed.
No more mind conttrol fines !
Present a fair CBA, and play ball.
the one on top is my very least favorite uni I've ever seen, lol
to me it looks like a McDonalds uniform

Did they?
I know they won their ’94 title in the old red ones, and Clyde was traded to them in ’95 and won that same year. And here he is wearing the red. So I think they switched immediately AFTER their two titles.

i like those pistons ones

I remember those!
That was when the Society for Creative Anachronism won the jersey design contest, right?

The Denver Nuggets once had a bronzish brown as its secondary color, which actually looked all right.
Yet, I’m not sure if any NBA team has had a shade of brown as its primary color. Concerning brown, there’s nothing worse than those vintage San Diego Padres uniforms. The vintage Vancouver Canucks and vintage Denver Broncos uniforms were ugly shads of brown, too.
"I Am Mine"
No way, 80's nuggets are among the best ever.
It probably just dates me, but I like all the early 80’s jerseys the most—Nuggets, Sonics, the Cav’s one above…

And the first Raptors jersey's are the worst ever
See the embarrassed Marcus Camby above. They look like a desperate bid for 11 year old fans.

essentially, most of the 90s uniforms kinda sucked...
at least the teams that decided to put some kind of graphic on their jersey

To add to that, it looks like a bear is attacking Big Country's leg.
Similarly, the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks’ jerseys looked revolting in the mid-’90s.
"I Am Mine"
gotta love the pac-man hawks logo too

I thought the 1980s Nuggets uniforms were the worst
But wow, those Bucks jerseys are horrible. I think they win my top vote for ugly.
If you’re going to make a guy live in Milwaukee, you simply can’t ask him to wear something like that. Besides, what’s with the team colors switching back and forth between green & red and green & purple?
By the way, ever see this site? :
http://www.ssur.org/research/TeamColors/Basketball/NationalBasketballAssociation/NationalBasketballAssociation.htm
Nah, I hadn't seen that site.
But yeah, Milwaukee does go through its colors.
At least those are all better than what they wore in the ’80s.

i love the championship blazer unis, my favorites of all time
i like the new jazz ones:

i like the new warriors jerseys, my favorite current ones:

I'm not a fan of the championship era Portland Trail Blazers jerseys.
Even so, the worst jerseys from the ’70s were those of the Atlanta Hawks.
Pat Riley just stood there fixated on the monstrosity that was Pistol Pete’s jersey.

The GSW jerseys are my favs. The trolley is awesome.

i like it here, there, everywhere.

oh yeah, as a bay area product,
the Golden Gate rules, and then adding a cable car… pretty killer.
Wake me when the game is on.
actually, they should really just rename the team
to the Golden Gate Warriors…
“Golden State” ?? they are not the whole state of California. That name has always been frustrating.
Wake me when the game is on.
You mean like "The City"?
As Eddie Izzard asked – “what does that make Oakland – ‘the collection of houses’?”
Oakland would be one of dozens of satellite 'cities'
surrounding THE city of the Northern realm: San Francisco with its awesome, world renown, signature Golden Gate Bridge landmark, as opposed to THE city of the Southern realm: Los Angles, or, typically simply ‘L.A.’ with its hundreds (thousands ? millions ?) of satellite cities, all within the ‘Golden State’.
‘The City’ works for Bay Area residents, and if someone can’t figure out WHAT city with a picture of the Golden Gate and a trolley on a steep hill, well, too bad.
“Golden State” is an excessively broad misnomer for the bay area team.
Wake me when the game is on.
oh, and when I said rename the team,
I didn’t mean change the jersey, I meant totally rename the team, in case that was not clear.
Wake me when the game is on.
those are horrendous

At least there are no sponsored NBA jerseys yet. Otherwise you could see some real atrocities...
Like this very manly outfit of the Telekom Baskets Bonn powered by T-Mobile/Deutsche Telekom who, well, happens to have magenta as their corporate color. It kinda worked for sponsoring cycling, but for basketball it’s pretty weird. They won a championship in that gear recently (or some slight variation thereof), now try to get a fan to wear that outside of the arena. Also note that even the ref is branded. Some real opportunities to improve the income of the NBA in the near future :-)

In terms of the NBA, some of my least favorite jerseys include what the NBA has done for various All-Star games, and also what they did for some Rookies vs. Sophomores games. E.g. the ones from Phoenix where everything seemed oddly proportioned and colored in shades of purple.

What I also really didn’t like was the Cavs recent alternate jersey that made LeBron look as if he were already playing for the NY Knicks.

Team USA usually had good jerseys, not just the Dream Team but also recently
Though in this modern example I like the front more than the back, but overall it’s nice.

I have said for awhile that I think the Blazers should do an alternate with silver as the main field color
in the regular style though not the “rip city” style. I also really liked the Nets silver uni’s.

Yeah, the Nets silver jerseys were the best. The navy blue uniforms were nice, too. Not sure why they ...
stuck with red, though, which are by far the worst of the current styles. Oh well, I guess that red is better than going back to the light metallic blue gradient jerseys of the early-’90s.
"I Am Mine"
For example, I didn't like the Utah Jazz's mountain landscape jerseys.
The mountain landscape is outstanding as a logo, but it looks gaudy on the actual jerseys.
That’s why I liked these better than those.
"I Am Mine"
these ones are great

my least favorite jersey

is anything having to do with the L*kers…
Barefoot conducts his seminars on his houseboat in Sausalito. It costs a hundred dollars to find out why we are on this Earth. You also get a sandwich, but I wasn't hungry that day. John Lennon had just been killed and I think I know why we are on this Earth; it's to find out that what you love the most will be taken away from you, probably due to an error in high places rather than by design.

Pretty hard to be too atrocious
when your colors are black and white. Spurs uniforms always look good but not great.
a couple more
I always liked this Pacers look

I think the classic Bobcats look is awful

long live the jd.
whaaaat???
That 80’s Jersey is AWESOME! Look at the way “Pacers” is written…clearly those letters are from the future.
as much as I dislike the Yankees, I think they pull off the pinstripe look phenomenally well, far better than any other sports team.
long live the jd.
yes
if anyone pulls off pinstripes, it’s the Yankees. i don’t really hate the Cubs in pinstripes either. It works better in baseball, because the teams generally do pinstripes on white home uniforms, plus, well, they are wearing pants, not shorts.
Pinstripes on aqua blue uniforms are just wrong, and pinstripes on shorts generally just look silly to me.
I think in the NBA the Magic and the Bulls have pulled it off best
"If I had a dime for every basket I made today, you'd still suck!" - from the book 'John Dies @ the End'
I am developing somee basic rules for jersey design as I compare:
rule 1) flat finish NOT glossy – flat looks like soft, broken in, comfortable cotton, glossy looks like sweat bag, gawdy, agonizing plastic.
rule 2) three colors max, preferably with one small white trim color.
rule 3) less is more, keep it simple, no to large format artwork
Wake me when the game is on.
Another important thing is to keep it simple.
An example of a team not following that basic rule was the early-’80s New York Knicks.
For no good reason, the player’s number was set above the team name on the front of the jersey.
"I Am Mine"
Wait, you did write "keep it simple" there.
So yeah, you’re on target with that assessment.
"I Am Mine"
Do any of you prefer city names on the jersey, or team names?
Weirdly enough, it seems city name jerseys are often preferred in this thread (with various exceptions), but that may be because teams switched to using their team name on the jersey during the “cartoon era,” so to speak.
I like city names on road jerseys and team names on home jerseys.
The one thing that I dislike, though, is abbreviated city names on jerseys.
Whenever on the road, go with the full city name on the jersey to show pride.
"I Am Mine"
I agree with AK1984
Those 90’s pin stripe black/blue Orlando uni’s were sweeeeet.
I also liked these
Get it done... Paul.
I have to say we (the PTB) have been really fortunate with our colors and jerseys
I think red, black, white and silver are the best colors you can have although I never cared for the red alternative jerseys. I really enjoy the 90’s jerseys with the obnoxious logo on the front (Raptors especially) they stand out and completely capture the essence of that era. My current favorite is the Timberwolves I could pick any of the 3.
Most guys block shots with their fingertips. Wallace was blocking them with his armpit.
sweet jersey
and its pretty cool how they got Zac Efron to model for them.

Nice topic

I’m a huge Mavs fan but the Knicks home jersey it’s hands down the current best looking NBA jersey.Simple, stylish, good mesh of colors, and the biggest city of USA written on it.Number 1 it’s also very very nice.
cavs 90s early 2000
right before the Lebron era in CLE; actually had some good looking jerseys

cavs have nice jerseys now; like the old school look; and Cavaliers are the only team to pull off that color combo:

current; I like these best:

Rip City ones are sick
right up there with the new Golden State ones, and the Royals one, as my favorite in this thread.

call me biased,but.....
I like the blazers 80s jerseys, specifically the red ones that weren’t worn for very long. I think it’s the font that makes them so cool looking because it’s so unique, and of course the stripes.
