Best Blazers jerseys of all time
Because, you know, there is a lockout.
Inception:
I like these ones. Capital first letter, followed by lowercase spelling of "Portland" with it underlined while the home features the spelling of "Blazers." There is a slanted pinwheel on the shorts. There is also a stripe going down the sides on both sides.
Champions:
By far may favorites. I like the continued use of the slanted pinwheel and the red road uniforms. The vertical lettering is completely unique to my knowledge. I also like the stripe going down only one side. Also introduces the all lowercase lettering.
80s:
These saw the introduction of the black jerseys, while the reds were kept as a little used alternate. The style looks more familier with the double stripe going across the belly replacing the stripe going down the side, a pattern still used today. They kept the lower case letters, a plus. Notice the letters on Clyde's jersey. Readers of the uniwatch blog will notice the letters are vertically arched, a big plus. If you don't know what that is, look closely at the the "Drexler" and then look at the names on the back of today's jerseys. Very good.
90s:
Easily the worst of the bunch. The lettering on the back changes, the Font on the front became capital cased box letters, red uniforms were completely ditched, and worst of all, the pinwheel became strait.
2000s
Slight improvement. Biggest change was the addition of silver to the color scheme. The other changes were the "modernizing" the font and logo and reintroduction of the red alternates.
Present.
People sometime forget that in 2006, the Blazers slight changed the black jerseys from saying "Blazers" to "Portland." Very modest improvement. Also the recent polarizing "Rip City" uniforms. I like them.

Not a single mention of the shorts?
That’s half the fun of talking old basketball unis!
In general, I like the Drexler era unis. I’m not a fan of silver. The Rip City jerseys are da bomb, though they sorta feel like a guilty pleasure.
PS – You might try using a spell checker.
Holding out for Hedo
Someone who uses "da bomb" in 2011...
probably shouldn’t be telling other people what to do.

You know, Devyn
I have been wondering lately…. do you think Hedo ISN’T the franchise savior that I dreamed he would be? What are you thoughts there?
That’s it! I’ve made my decision! From here on out, I’m holding out for a TRUE LEGEND OF BLAZERDOM – Somebody that will deliver us from basketball purgatory without bothering with little things like “spelling” and “grammar”.

I like everything about the rip city jerseys EXCEPT
I wish they’d change the font of the numbers too. They kept it the same as the current jerseys, but it doesn’t match with the font of “rip city” at all.
Excellent point.
I would love to see the “ripcity” jersey with some different number options font-wise.

Drexler
era jerseys were the best. They were just business, nothing fancy, just saying “Yeah, we’re the Blazers and we’re about to stomp you” They need to bring these back for a retro night

I'd like to see the lower case font incorporated into a new, contemporary jersey set
I like our unis now, but the writing is a wee bit blocky for me. Doing a combo of our current silver-accented color scheme with the chocked full of awesome lower case font is something I would be very interested in seeing.
Totally agree that the switch from “BLAZERS” to “PORTLAND” on the road blacks was an excellent choice. You rep your city on the road, your nickname at home.

I'd love to see them just go to "ripcity" at home and "portland" on the road
in lowercase. That font is slick. Change the numbers to match it and I might actually buy a child sized jersey and tuck it into my skinny jeans.

Am I the only one who feels that the inception era jerseys look sleeker than the championship era jerseys?
"I Am Mine"
you just like the short-shorts...
alright, they do look a little sleeker.

Nah, I prefer the modern-day baggier shorts.
Buck Williams’ old compression shorts were also cool looking, though.
"I Am Mine"
I like the inception better than the actual championship era jersey
The retro championship era jerseys seem to be spaced better so the “bl” isn’t so bunched up on the top. There is probably just more fabric to work with since the 70’s jerseys were so tight.

I actually like the vertical text championship era jerseys in a weird way
maybe it’s just because Bill and Mo are wearing them, but they seem very intimidating. I like the red text and numbers on the black jerseys in the Drexler days too. I’d like to see something new and modern but incorporating our jersey history. Lower case text but still keep the silver accent, stuff like that.

I like the 80's with the length of shorts we have today.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
I'd prefer the 80's length of short.
Something about getting dunked on with some short shorts seems…ballsier.

Ha!
I remember some of those shorts were short and tight enough that you could see the dudes package. Like a Storm Troopers Cod Piece. Not a great image to remember.

The inception era gear looks the coolest IMO >>>BUT<<<
the font would be way too small after the jerseys were expanded to modern size.
Therefore, my vote goes to the “rip city” home jersey. The special Blazer home uniforms are a thing of beauty, as well as a touching tribute to eras gone by.

the ripcity uni
i like the idea, but they are just poorly designed. if you are going to go retro, then make it look retro. combining old and new fonts along with the modern v-neck style that pushes the design down to the stomach, just looks strange.
also, i’m not a fan of “ripcity” on the jersey. that is a slogan, not a name. they would look far better with just the 80’s “blazers” on the front at the chest level.

I can see your point on Rip City
I’m not a native, and honestly don’t even know wtfudge Rip City is supposed to mean. And the striping leaves much to be desired IMO. But as long as it’s just a home jersey, it’s not hurting anybody. People seem to enjoy Rip City, give the home folks some love.

Worst jersey design in the NBA
We have to be in the bottom of jersey sales, blazer design is so tired! The new Wash. Wizards are great. Golden State re-did theirs and are a cool throw-back style.
Naming rights to the RG and new fresh jersies would bring Paul Allen some big $$. We got great colors, black and red is tough to beat.
disagree
love the belly stripe, would love the vertical lettering even better. PA isnt exactly starved for money, Rose Garden should not change names
Felton will make a lot of people have selective memory on their reaction to draft night
Raymond Felton's job requires him to where a sleeveless shirt in front of thousands of people; it should not be this hard to determine whether or not he is fat.

Worst jersey design in the NBA? No way
"If I had a dime for every basket I made today, you'd still suck!" - from the book 'John Dies @ the End'
The Wiz shouldn't have changed theirs in the first place
Former owner Abe Pollin (may he RIP) wanted to change the name from Bullets to Wizards because Bullets wasn’t PC. Fair enough, no complaints there. He didn’t have to change the color schemes etc., but I guess he wanted the total makeover. Whatever, Abe was the man, and for what it’s worth, I liked the new look. But not for a DC team. You gotta have red/white/blue in DC.

Yep
Mr. Leonsis couldn’t wait to make that change. Of course, a new stream of cash from new jerseys had nothing to do with that cough but it does look much better IMO.

Can I vote "All" incarnations?
To me “styling” over decades has to change. But I think The Blazers uniforms have remained “classy” for each respective time period.
I like that The Blazers have never strayed too far from classic. No New Jersey Nets “Baby Blue” or huge cartoonish Toronto Raptors like uniforms.
I know it’s tied into marketing and revenue, and I kinda like the Rip City uniforms…but I hope The Blazers don’t get into too much peddling of “gimick” uniforms.
Styles simply will change with decades…but I like the fact that The Blazers have always kept a modern…but IMO classic look.
I like them all.

my sentiments exactly
Only a handful of teams have remain true to their design. Looking at other teams and seeing how often they change designs then looking at my beloved Blazers and seeing how minimal the design has changed through the years. I’m sure when my grand child attends the Blazer championship rally in pioneer square the uniform will still look pretty much the same.
