Edit: Retool?

Oden may want out of Portland and even if he is re-signed he may not contribute steadily. Roy can't be consistent over an 82 game season with no meniscus in the knees. With the grateful exception of Aldridge, the 3 faces of the franchise are no longer viable.

We have good veterans that should be held onto: Aldridge, Wallace, Camby, Miller. There's your core. But it's an iffy one when you consider the age of the last two. Dre is being bandied about in trade rumors for this reason I believe. He's a solid contributor but his time may be up if the right trade comes along.

We have Batum. What to do? For reasons I've elaborated elsewhere (lack of handles, starter personality, playing behind Wallace, timidness) I don't think he's the long term answer as a 6th man during Wallace's productive years.

Rudy and Babbitt should be someone else's scrubs.

A. Johnson, Williams, and C. Johnson have traits that make them intriguing enough to keep around based on potential.

Patty Mills is no Aaron Brooks, Ty Lawson, Damon Stoudamire, or even Earl Boykins level talent. He's a 3point chucker that can't reach the rim. He's fun to watch, though.

All this adds up to a rebuild in my estimation. Players we like will be traded simply because you have to give talent to get it.

So what are our schemes?

This is a weak draft outside of the top 2 we keep being told. It seems that way from the eyeball test too.

FA will give us a MLE and BAE.

Trades could yield star power.

I'll hold off on my schemes for now as I want to get a rebuild discussion going first off.
