simple draft math
Felton for Miller
Diebler for Fernandez
Smith for Mills (who is a free agent and won't be offered a contract)
Don't worry about back up power forward, that will come in free agency, Nate wants vets.
In the end it's not as bad as people are saying. I few days ago everyone was saying we should just let Rudy go. Now he's gone and people act like we just traded Larry Bird.

I don't think it's the math that annoys everyone
Its the… silliness about the whole situation. And what PF are we going to find that will produce as much as Faried for the same cost?
Portland could coast along with their superior talent and stay right with us. Now that Portland woke up, the hammer cometh down.
Bayless > Daffy Duck after 3 cans of rockstar
We’re just guessing about Faried’s impact. Josh McRoberts, who is a free agent, might have more of an impact than Faried.
I'd welcome McBob back

It may have been a "Faried OR Pendergraph" decision
And they believed they could get enough production from Pendergraph at cheap enough to offset what Faried might have done on a guaranteed contract.
Wrong. I dissagree
We already had the 21 and 51 picks.
Miller for Felton
Rudy for ? Nobody
We used our draft picks for Smith and Diebler to replace Rudy
We wasted the value of Rudy and got nothing for him
the thing about faried is
that he played for Morehead State. there was very little competition. not saying he isn’t a good player, he just might not adjust to the nba level so quickly. we shouldn’t have gotten rid of rudy just to get rid of rudy. portland could have definately gotten a better deal out of him

This works out
Both Felton and Smith (on paper) should be good enough shooters and defenders to play with Roy in the same backcourt at the same time. Mathews is flexible enough to play with anyone.
Felton is a better outside shooter/defender than Miller. Considering outside shooting and defense was a weakness overall for the Blazers in 2011, this seems to be a good move. Smith will immediately be the best backup PG on the roster overtaking Mills and Johnson.
We can always move G Wallace to PF when LMA needs a breather and bring in Batum.
On paper, the Blazers are a better team after the trade then before the trade as they improved (although not greatly) their areas of need.
Except the C position, which was ignored and is the greatest area of need.
Camby is older, and Olden is old. Don’t count on either of them being healthy for the entire year, or contributing offensively.
