ATL-ORL-POR

Star-divide

Just a trade I would like to get everyones opinion on.

I think Orlando has to do something to keep Howard and this might be a good move on their part. Can you imagine how many alley opps Dwight would get with Miller? Scarey. They also will  be adding a defensive minded 3-4 in Smith that could create the best defensive frontlines in the NBA. Miller will also give them some financial flexibilty with Howard going into FA soon.

Atlanta gets a very good center that would push Horford to his better PF position. They also get a shooting, creating SF in Turkoglu that will give them another scoring opion with Johnson.

Portland lands its PGOTF its been looking for. It also get a center just in case GO doesnt come back and Bass will backup LA nicely.

Not a slamdunk for all teams but seems to improve all involved.

lol

they lose Smith AND have to take on Hedo’s ridiculous contract?

by hoodieNation on Jun 22, 2011 5:03 PM PDT reply actions

Atlanta won't absorb Hedo Turkoglu's contract. That totally kills the whole purpose of moving Josh Smith.

Anyhow, I do believe Atlanta and Orlando should work out some kind of trade — absent of Portland mind you — such as Smith for Jameer Nelson and Brandon Bass.

Also, Andre Miller doesn’t fit in Stan Van Gundy’s 4-outside/1-inside motion offense. Miller just wouldn’t fit there.

Yet, if Portland did get involved in such a three-team trade, I could see it playing out like this.

The Hawks would immediately waive Miller, so as to cut costs heading into next season. That, of course, is the whole purpose of trading Smith in the first place.

Call me crazy

But I just don’t see Atlanta willing to trade with Orlando and send them one of their top 3 players. J Smoove with Dwight Howard would be a nasty team, even if he is a tweener.
