Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

This is from the Yahoo! Sports article by Wojnarowski. In it, there's a little snippet about Indiana making Roy Hibbert available in a trade that nets them the #2 pick. So far it seems Minnesota isn't biting.

"With an eye on drafting Arizona’s Derrick Williams, the Indiana Pacers have discussed a package including center Roy Hibbert and the 15th pick for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ second overall pick, league sources said. Nevertheless, the overture hasn’t gained traction in Minnesota. "

I don't know about anybody else, but this is exactly the kind of deal Portland should get involved with to net us Hibbert. Would it be possible to steal Darren Collison in the process? One can only hope.

Any deal involving Collison and Hibbert

would require Oden (S&T) and Batum.

I like Hibbert and think he is a top 5 center in a nearly centerless NBA, but Oden’s floor (if healthy) is Hibbert.

I believe Oden + (N. Smith/R. Jackson) > Hibbert + Collison.

That would be an interesting debate.

I think you're right in that Oden is a better player than Hibbert

But a healthy Hibbert is a lot better than a broken Oden. And who knows, maybe Minnesota would take a chance on a sign and trade with Oden.

No...

I was thinking more like this:

Indy get’s #2 and Johnny Flynn
Minny gets #21, #15, Rudy, Andre
Portland gets Hibbert, Collison, and Ridnour

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3dl6qo4

Just an idea. Play with those rosters and post how you would get it done.

No way Minny takes that deal.

They have no need for Andre (since Rubio is coming over to start), Rudy they’d probably take, but, he has little value. So, basically, they’re trading #2 for #15 and #21. Not a chance.

The only way we get involved in this is to give up Batum, and probably Matthews (if we want Hibbert AND Collison), on top of the picks and Andre’s valuable contract.

Basically, I just don’t see a way this can happen in which it actually helps the Blazers.

It's already been denied by Larry Bird.

Chad Ford on True Hoop posted at about 2:30 PM Today:

• Larry Bird shot down a rumor that the Pacers and Timberwolves were discussing a Roy Hibbert for the No. 2 pick trade.

“We’re not doing that,” Bird said at a press conference today. “I’m not interested in trading Roy. Roy is one of our core group guys.”

ah dang it.

I jumped on it as soon as I saw it. We know Bird doesn’t mince words, so it’s dead. Stupid Minnesota and their rumor milling!

Nice idea though.

There are only a couple on teams in the NBA who wouldn’t be interested in Hibbert at this point.

I think Phoenix has the best chance to go out n grab Derrick Williams

Gortat would be a solid center next to Love…

Get it done... Paul.

Gortat would be a solid center next to almost anyone

He was on my wish list before Orlando traded him, now there’s no way Phoenix will unless they’re getting a big time player in return
