2011 and 2012 Free Agent List
I was thinking about which players might be available through free agency. In my opinion this list is crucial to deciding possible trades or signings. Everyone on here should check it out. It will definitely get some good conversations going im sure. Ill start one after the link.

This list is quite amazing. It really gets me excited that something big could go down. The names just go on and on. For 2011 just to name a few: Tim Duncan, Jamal Crawford, David West, NeNe, Kenyon Martin, Tayshaun Prince, Tyson Chandler.... Frankly, if Paul Allen is willing to go deep into the luxury tax, there are alot of players that are unrestricted free agents who could easily fill gaps in our roster.
For example, after a quick examination of the list, which was updated June 3rd 2011, I saw that Ray Allen is an unrestricted free agent. Ray Allen plays SG which is a position where we have a definite problem, Brandon and Rudy. First of all, We have to keep Brandon. Second of all Rudy isnt working out, he knows it and we know it. Hes even previously asked to be released back to Europe. Hes been one of our most talked about trade chips. Obviously Ray is way better than Rudy, albeit older(35) but he also brings what we are badly needing, dependable and killer outside shooting. Sure Rudy is cheaper, but win now is spend now and you gotta spend big to win in this league. Picking up Ray makes Rudy expendable. And it would certainly make us as a team better. As a discussion this is just a realistic suggestion. It doesnt mean it can or cant, will or wont happen, its just for conversational purposes only.
Just in case you need it, heres a Link to Ray Allens stat page: http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/9/ray-allen
Look over the list, and see what you come up with.
Peace!

Sign Brian Scalabrine. When he came to the Celtics they made it to 2 Finals and won a championship. Leaves the Celtics, they don’t make it out of the second round. Bulls were an 8 seed last year, 1 seed this year. Coincidence? I think not. The legend of the White Mamba lives on.

The Blazers are well over the cap and will remain there for quite some time.
Because of this we cannot sign a player that commands more money than the MLE, which is what we gave in full of Wesley Matthews last offseason, roughly 5.8 million dollars.
Also, Tim Duncan, David West, Ray Allen and Nene all have player options remaining on their contracts, and I wouldn’t be surprised if all of them picked it up. The most likely to test free agency is Nene. But West is recovering from an injury and will take that guaranteed money while he’s sitting out, Tim Duncan will also remain with the Spurs and Ray Allen will most likely also pick up his option. Most of the rest you’ve mentioned will command more than the MLE.
The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.
Draft Nikola Vucevic
I just mentioned those players because they were some of the bigger names on the list
not because I thought we should necassarily should target them.

We can go deeper into luxury tax realm
if PA is willing to spend the dough- most the type of players we need to put us into contention are going to cost more than the MLE.

We should not be after player over 35yrs unless we are able to get
all of them to come over. Duncan and Allen would improve us greatly for next season and maybe one more and then it’ll be over. Those two would provide us with the Playoff experience that we have lacked.
PG- Miller
SG- Matthews and Allen
SF- Wallace
PF- Aldridge
C- Duncan
Average age of like a 105yr but experience up the wazzu!
Houston has a team option on Dragc for a little over 2 million dollars.
He won’t even sniff free agency this offseason.

I was worried about that
The list was last updated 4 days before that

I was hoping you might spot this post
since you seem to have the most NBA contractual knowledge of any poster on this sight. Is there any free agents that you might like to see the Blazers target? Or is free agency a waste of time? What do you think?

Joel Prizbilla is unrestricted
How are his knees now? We could use a big….

Okay, what about these guys?
Chuck Hayes as a starting center until Oden comes back.
Shannon Brown as a PG
Carl Landry as a backup to LMA.
David West as a backup PF to LMA
Kyrylo Fesenko as a backup center to Oden
Dalembert as a center
Jason Richardson as a SG

Which Jazz free agent should the Blazers target this year?
Francisco Elson
Kyrylo Fesenko
Andrei Kirilenko
C.J. Miles (T)
Ronnie Price
Earl Watson
Who's that tromping across my bedge?

I like Fesenko as a minimum salary player and 3/4th choice Center.
His big body gives us the option to play more aggresive as there are very few that can over-power him. Earl Watson is a nice backup PG to have or start if we can get Walker or Knight in the draft. Price is also a good backup PG, Miles has some talent but the Jazz will want to keep him badly.
First of all, We have to keep Brandon.
Disagree, because of the amnesty clause proviso. Roy can still “do some things” but he was grossly overpaid last season and he will be for 3-4 more years unles he’s AC’d
Other players will definitely be AC’d by other NBA teams following the lockout, then we can add some more names to the FA list. There’s going to be a scramble for talent before games begin again, and Portland shouldn’t put all of their roster spots in the draft basket. They already drafted 7 kids in the past 24 months, as well as added CJ, etc
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
lots of servicable centers available
i say we grab one of chuck hayes, dalembert, big baby davis, chandler, maybe nene if we can.
if none of those worked, we could get kwame brown, but having that sort of a bust around greg oden might not be good for anyone
FA's that may make sense in looking at
There are some centers and PF that would make sense if healthy – Joel and Troy Murphy come to mind. Other center FA’s are: Tyson Chandler (cost too much), Eddy Curry, Samuel Dalembert, Dan Gadzuric. Deandre Jordan and Marc Gasol will likely receive a QO from their respective teams.
Carl Landry would be a nice pickup.
Other PF free agents: Reggie Evans, Josh McRoberts (ex Blazer and old friend of Oden), Leon Powe, Sheldon Williams. The Bobcats can offer Donte Cunningham a QO.
Guard FA’s that would be worth looking at would be Jamal Crawford and JJ Barea.
