dead horse...or not
Strange as this may sound, I wonder if Devin Harris to the Blazers could happen.
Utah has two picks in this draft, and the mocks that I have seen show them picking a pg-type at either spot (3 or 12).
If they aren't sold on Harris, and are willing to make room for the new guy, perhaps a Andre Miller/filler type trade could work. Andre can hold down the fort this year (or get a short extension) while the new guy grows up. Andre played his college ball in Utah and his salary/production might look good to the Jazz.
Now Harris is interesting but probably not perfect. He can be a more efficient scorer than Miller, but he is probably not or never will be the pure floor general. Harris is a better 3-ball shooter than Dre...but not by much. He is younger than Dre but rarely plays even 70 games a season due to injury. He can be a better defender, but only if he really tries.
Maybe a slight upgrade or an even split, the team shouldn't break the bank, Miller and AJohnson or Babbitt is about all I would want to see moved, maybe throw in a draft pick. Heck, maybe the Jazz would want nothing to do with Portland after the last few years of RFA deals between the two teams.
Just a thought

The only way this team, as configured, wins big is with a marquis scoring point guard.
Is Harris the guy? Dunno. But there just isn’t enough offensive fire power in the back court with Matthews as a starter to make some noise.
They could be a very good team with Stephen Curry running the show…
He is a defensive liability for sure, but the Blazers need a guard who can create his own shot and looks for that shot more often than Miller. Matthews is a good third or fourth option on offense at best.
The Dos Equis guy lives life like Chip Kelly calls plays.
Because the Jazz really want to help the Blazers?
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!

Whenever you are thinking about a move the blazers should make one must realize the big picture
how is this helping us get Chris Paul. I like to take it one step further and ask myself before I do anything ‘how is this going to help get Chris Paul? ’ I hope the next general manager has this same life approach. I don’t so much as go to the bathroom without first making sure it will help the blazers get cp3.

Frankly, I could see the Utah Jazz try pairing Devin Harris and Jimmer Fredette together. Take Fredette ...
at #12 and use him as an off guard on offense and have him matched up against opposing 1s defensively, while Harris runs the offense at the point and defends two guards on the other end. The experiment would almost surely fail in the long run — especially defensively — but I wouldn’t put it past Utah to attempt it nonetheless.

why do people here want to trade andre for devin?
if we want to downgrade at a position of need we might as well trade Camby for Curry
your comparison trade is quite fair.
Harris has identical stats to Andre and is 8 years younger.

Stats don't tell the whole picture.
Harris is better than Dre in scoring and defense
Dre is better at running the offense and getting other guys involved
Dre is healthier and doesn’t sit out for long stretches because of a sprained ankle or other minor injury, Harris does.
I’m all for looking for an upgrade at the PG position, but Harris would be a marginal upgrade at best, and could actually end up doing less to help us win than Dre does. I just don’t see how it’s worth it for us.
The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.
Draft Nikola Vucevic
yeah i've jumped off the Harris bandwagon for the most part.
But still, he’s not bad and the age difference thing is a huge reason to want him over Andre for me.

Dre for ruler!
keep him – he’ll be like our kidd in three years

I hadn't thought of that
But I think the age difference makes it worth a look (depending on what the “filler” is).
Interesting idea, thanks for posting.

This is a move I would certainly make as a fallback
If we couldn’t make a home run move for Steph or Iggy. Would require a knockdown shooter at SG, which I guess Wes could be is he gets more consistent and magically develops some handles and court vision…….maybe not.
