I didn't see any fanposts about the draft still on the front page so I want to share my thoughts and see what people think.
I was looking at Faried's college stats, which a lot of you already have, compared to Dennis Rodman's and they are very similar. He's only 6-8 but has a great nose for the ball and can jump out of the gym. Both things I'm sure everyone on this site already knows. Does it seem possible to trade Rudy and our 2nd round pick to move down and get Faried? Most mocks have him going in the 16-22 range. His rebounding would be huge! Especially during Camby's impending and unavoidable decline.
Then with the 21st pick the Blazers could take a look at JaJuan Johnson. 6-10, 225 forward that has more than a couple of offensive moves, including a jump hook in the lane and a fade away jump shot. He averaged 20 pts, 10 rebs, 2 blks, 1 steal and only 1.6 personal fouls a game. He also played in the Big 10, which was a very good basketball conference this year. His game reminds me a little of a young Lamarcus' actually. Not that I am projecting him to be as good as LA but there are definitely similarities.
Obviously other roster moves would need to be made but I think that these two guys could help spell Aldridge next year and they both would provide Nate with two different looks at the back-up PF position.
The Blazers already have three young back-up point guards in Mills (offense), Armon (defense), and Elliot Williams (athleticism, hopefully?). I'm not sure that getting another point guard in this years draft is the way to go. I would rather have a semi-young veteran who is signed over the summer or acquired by the trade deadline back-up Miller. Then let two of the three guards I mentioned above duke it out for a roster spot and then spot minutes.
