Rich Cho Appreciation Thread & Why Fired Poll.
I appreciate his cool demeanor, perfectly tied ties, and the Crash Wallace deal.
There was something about Cho's style and 'intangibles' that made me feel secure that he wouldn't let the organization make rash or short-sighted decisions.
What do you appreciate about what Cho did (or abstained from doing) during his all-too-short reign as our GM?

Thanks for getting Crash so cheaply
Outside of that, I think the role Cho filled is better suited by a lower player on the totem pole. The numbers guy should be in the background such as scouting. The GM first and foremost must have the necessary contacts to open lines of communications with other GMs. I’m not sold that Cho excelled in that area. Who else in the organization would take on that role if not the GM.

Thank you for Crash and being a classy dude.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

Dear Rich Cho-
It is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.
See you around,

best midseason trade i can think of in recent memory
Fire Nate; hire Rick Adelman
(time and money cures all wounds)
trade for Iggy
goal for next year: go year without using hardship exemption
Larry Miller is the team president of the Trail Blazers
The Vulcans are the group that oversees Paul Allen’s sports teams, the Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers.
I hate both at the moment.
The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.
Trade for Ramon Sessions!
Paul is a big Star Trek Fan.
He named the group that is in charge of sports “The Vulcans”.

whoa!
Who is out there to replace Cho?
Is this a plot by the ominous Vulcan crew to once again control 90% of our draft moves and rent a GM for a single mid-season trade?
I am starting to see a pattern….
we can still win........
I think Cho want to blow it up.
And I think he’s probably right to think that. Without a healthy BRoy AND LaMonster, AND a healthy Greg the odds of us being legit championship contenders were slim. Now with how much we’ve been derailed, I think it’s time to blow it up, get rid of everybody injured or old, suck for a few years and hopefully get enough high draft picks who turn out to be studs to place alongside LMA.
Sorry Cho, I believed in you to make the right decisions, and those decisions that you wanted to make might have gotten you fired. Dam this sucks.
Paul Allen needs to stop meddling with guys who know their stuff better than he does.
In Cho I trust(ed).

thanks for getting gerald
When I first heard that Cho was fired, I was surprised. Now after thinking about it, I am less than surprised. This has been typical Blazers. They’ve have had 5 GMs in 8 years, after all.
i like it here, there, everywhere.
how do you expect a gm to do his job knowing and fearing he will be fired shortly
why did they hire cho if he had different ideas,
cho still has 3 years on his deal.
I doubt many people would shy away from a shot at 1 in 30 jobs with multiple years of guaranteed high pay.
i like it here, there, everywhere.
at least KP got to run the draft before he was shown the door
my initial reaction: now I know how it feels to be a Raider’s fan
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
its all a big mystery

Rich Cho
Rich, you are a great man and i think Rich has a great future as a general manager. He might wanted to blow it up,because this is the right move for this team..He wanted the best player available and not the best player that people thought is the best fit for the team..Thank you for Crash, thank you cause you have the right way of thinking..Is it bad to ged rid of Mills,Fernandez,Camby(39) or even Roy,if he continues to struggleIs this so bad?Is it bad to get here REAL BASKETBALL HEALTHY PLAYERS???Mr Allen, shame on you..This team will continue to struggle with this way of thinking..

Allen
I also cant find the answer why Cuban every summer wants his team to be better and he tries to get to Dallas the best player to compete for a championship and Mr Allen doesnt do the same thing?Portland has a great basketball history, has fans that love so much their team, has a billionaire for owner and instead of competing every year for the conference or the NBA finals this team struggles,struggles,struggles…..Why is Dallas betterWhy are the Spurs better? Why Mr Allen? Why dont you let a person such as Rich Cho,who seemed to do the right things here,do their job?Why dont you go out there and bring the best player in our team?
Great
Last time we went into the draft without a GM we ended up with Babbit, Williams, and Johnson. I, foolishly, still got faith in the two Nevada players but even I know this ain’t good
I liked you Rich, I'm sorry it had to end this way...
"If I had a dime for every basket I made today, you'd still suck!" - from the book 'John Dies @ the End'
Mrs. Cho, if you're still reading this
tell Rich to hang with ’em, he deserved better

You're a cool guy Cho, don't sweat it
Save yourself from this sinking ship. Well not sinking, whatever you call a ship not going anywhere until The Ghost of Roy’s contract is up and/or Oden somehow finally gets off the DNP.
A Choice I would have included in the poll
1) Cho wanted to suspend Roy for his comments after game 2 of the playoffs. (and subsequently confirming this with Canzano…the PRESS)
I can't help but think it had something to do with the Roy issue
But, just going from what they’ve said, it sounds like he was fired for being a stat geek, 10 months after he was hired because he was a stat geek.

Thanks Rich! I especially appreciate Gerald
Sorry about the short tenure and moving your family here only to have your job quickly pulled from you. At least you will still get paid. If it is any consolation Penn, Patterson, and (I think) Pritchard are all still living here – hopefully the personal side of the move is working out for you too.
put a body on 'em
10 months?
We were on the verge of seeing what Cho was capable of doing. The Wallace deal was nice, and since it happened on Cho’s watch, I’d put it on my resume if I was Cho. But general reports say, The Blazers interest in Wallace existed for years. So I don’t know how much Cho had to do with the actual development of that trade.
I was looking forward to seeing what Cho might actually do. I feel like we had a countdown going and when the numbers got to single digits somebody yelled ABORT!…
I wish Cho well…what I was allowed to see was an intelligent person who seemed dedicated to his task.
I’d also like to say, that Cho is taking some heat for not being a good communicator. I disagree. Cho was blunt, and honest. Occasionally he pulled the I’m not going to comment on this at this time card. But I for one? Appreciated his honesty.
He didn’t tell us Rip City was Back….he told us Rip City needed some Work…..and perhaps unfortunately it will be somebody else charged with doing that work.
