Once we lock a playoff spot should we shut it down for our bigs? poll
So, i dont want a repeat of last years Brandon Roys injury hampering us from a legit shot at the 2nd round. We were tough, and really good before brandon went down last year right before the playoffs. I think that is fairly avoidable this year. Short of playing the lakers or mabey denver i could care less who we play in the playoffs if we are healthy. What do you guys and gals think? Should we shut it down for our starters tommorrow if we win or houston loses?

definitely Aldridge
and not just because of the article the other day about how he was tired. He has been one of the NBA leaders in minutes played for the season, and could probably use a little more rest if we can accommodate it – and Camby is in that boat as well, possibly Andre Miler.
For Wallace, I think given his age and getting acclimated to our team and system he should still play, but maybe just not huge minutes.

Nope.
Need to maintain the 6 seed so that we can play Dallas, because that is our best matchup.
I dispense B.S. and facts. It is up to you to figure out which is which.

I was just writing this.
Yeah I don’t want anybody shut down until we have clinched the 6th spot.

What and risk injury to our small players
How about we simply forfeit our remaing games? This is the only senario that ensures no Blazer sustains a game related injury (the xbox injury is still a real possiblity though). Benching our bigs means we play heavy minutes to Chris Johnson and Babbit or that we go for really small ball. How about a Patty, Armon, Babbit, Johnson lineup and drawer of the shortest straw among Rudy/ Mathews/Batum for 48 mintues. Neither option would be fair to those who paid for tickets or those who do play in the games. Lets be real, there is no purpose to goig the route of the spurs for our squad. None of our key guys are really hobbled. I think Camby has been getting limited minutes for sometime now just to save him for the playoffs anyway.
I hope you're right about Camby
His mobility was looking pretty limited even before the injury. Maybe he’s just waiting to flip the switch…

Phase 3: Profit!
If Blazers can peak and go out with a bang...
This will play on the mental of other teams. I say win out, play hard, and put fear in to the eyes of the top 4. It’s upset time!!!

No way!
Win out, sweep Dallas, then rest while they wait for the next series to start.

I could see some merit in limiting LA, Crash, and Miller to about 30-35 mins
Of course, Miller averages around 30 min a game anyways, so maybe cut it down to 25. But simply sitting them would ruin the rhythm they have.

The rotation is still a work in progress
The team is still working on getting a rotation set. We want them to be comfortable in their roles and to get that 6 spot to meet Dallas in the 1st round. Injuries are a risk, but basically you just have to cross fingers on that one.
The team probably could stand to sub starters out a touch earlier and sub in a touch later though, just to keep everyone fresh (especially LA).
We aren't good enough to take our foot of the gas
For us it is still mostly a confidence game and will be until we win a series. We don’t know well enough what it takes so our best shot is to charge into the playoffs full steam…

Need the Experience
We need all the games we can get with the big lineup, Camby, LMA, and Crash in the 3-4-5…
It’s worked well, but shown roguh edges.
Let them play..
Plus, we still need wins!
If the team does what you are suggesting
Then they will most definitley lose the 6th spot and drop down to #8. Shutting it down only works if you have a specific seed locked up. We are still in what mario kart would define as battle mode.
3rd down... chainsaw noise please.

If we shut down, we'll drop to the 7 or 8.
And that means we’re more likely to play the L*kers.
Do. Not. Want.
Porter, Drexler, Kersey, Williams, Duckworth. The greatest starting 5 ever.
Reduced minutes maybe
But they need to cultivate chemistry, momentum, and rhythm.
No way...
We need to win out. It will keep confidence high, and increase our chance of playing Dallas. However, we should be a bit more weary about keeping starters in late in the game when we have a fairly large lead….
Sorry Riccc_l
We need to play to win for the rest of the season. There is no shutting down, in a sort where ethics are rare, we need to play to win it is the ethical thing to do and the smart thing to do for our players. Winning builds confidence and creates momentum and that will be a good thing as the playoffs approach.
you can't rest guys
when you don’t have backups.
