Can I get an Amen!!

First time poster, long time lurker....

Okay, here's my take on the Blazers right now.

First, this idea that we are in the position we're in right now is because of Nate and his coaching is spot on. But not for the reasons many of you have suggested. We are in the playoffs because of Nate's coaching, we are a team trending upward in this league because of Nate's coaching, and we are again a perennial playoff team because of Nate's coaching. To suggest that the struggles of this team in this series is the result of Nate's coaching is misdirected frustration. Nate came into this series knowing what to expect in terms of playoff intensity, strategic adjustments, playing time management, etc...what he can't predict is how the players will come out and treat each and every game. This is where I think people start to lose perspective. It is assumed if the team comes out flat that is Nate's fault but I respectfully disagree. Nate's job is to make sure everyone knows their jobs, what is expected of them and how to win each game in the series. The players job is to take that information and assimilate it on the court. They have to bring the playoff intensity and grit. They have to dig down deep and find that nastiness, that utter hatred of the team on the other side. It doesn't matter if your best friend plays for that other team, if you have to plant him into the press table to make a play, that's what you do. You bring everything you got, legal/illegal, nice/nasty, doesn't matter. If it can give you the slightest advantage you use it and use it and use it some more. That is up to the players. Nate can talk about intensity until he's blue in the face and it won't make a damn bit of difference if the players don't take it upon themselves to impose THEIR WILL on the other team.

Look, I've been as frustrated as any other fan out there about the way the Blazers have performed this series. They have not played well this series, period. Even with the game 4 comeback, they have been underachieving through 5 games. But there is hope and that is exactly my point. Even underachieving we still sit here having protected our court and needing just 1 road win in game 7 and move on. Our players are coming off bad performances for most all of them. My gut feeling is the Blazers get a solid home victory in game 6 with LMA and Gerald getting right. But what I need to see is the fight on the road in game 7. Intensity, grit, and anger. Take it personal when Terry breaks out the wings, take it personal when Barea thinks he can just waltz down the middle, take it personal when Dirk gets calls you don't and won't get. Take it personal and use that energy to shove it down their freakin' throats. I can't help but get the feeling that we're in for something special over the next 2 games. I feel like we're shaking of the sleep from a long hibernation. And we are all going to see why no one in the west wants to see the Blazers advance.

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord of hoops.....
