An Adelman nightmare!
I have no inside info, only the nightmarish thought the Rick Adelman probably makes the most sense to be the next coach of the hated Lakers. It absolutely makes me squeamish to picture it, so much so that i have this really bad feeling that this could happen! What are your thoughts? Someone please come up with a really plausible reason why this would never happen so i can rest easier. Fire away please. extra words needed.

It won't happen

The job has already been promised to Brian Shaw.
Actually, I wouldn't mind this happening at all...
Now, if we’re talking Doc Rivers, Popovich, Karl, then I’m not so glad. These guys are great coaches and I don’t want another great coach going to the L*kers.
Adelman’s not one of the greats. In fact, if you want to talk nightmares, Adelman’s name brings up more than a few for me because he couldn’t win it all when he coached the Blazers and they had some of the best teams they’ve ever had during his tenure. Very painful flameouts with Adelman in the pilot’s seat.
Now, if you’re an Adelman fan and treasure the memories of him in Pdx, that’s fine with me. He seems like a nice enough sort of guy. Look at the bright side in that case. He’d probably have a decent chance of finally getting a ring as a L*ker. But then, like most Blazer fans, you couldn’t bring yourself to pull for him. Myself, I’d have no problem at all cheering against him.
My biggest nightmare connected to Adelman would be seeing him back coaching the Blazers…You’d think the L*kers could do so much better though the pool of available high level talent may be pretty shallow next year. Unfortunately, Nate (I forgot about Mattews in the rotation) McMillan’s not going anywhere 8<{…
Adelman was a young coach with the Blazers, he has grown a lot over the years. Nevertheless, he won't be coming back to PDX.

yeah but can Rick run the triangle?
I don’t think L*A will be calling him, at least not for the head job. Adelman could wind up on their payroll like Rudy T, though
This could be the L*kers last run at the title for awhile, no matter who they hire to replace Phil. As much as I complain about their built-in advantages, they haven’t gone deep in the playoffs without Jackson for 20+ years. Before that they had Riley and Magic

I guess Del Harris did get them to the WCF back in '98
K*be’s 2nd year, Shaq’s 5th. How hard could it be to win 60 games?

The Lakers will hire the best coach they can find
This would be true regardless of who was available
Me: "I heard the BCS just bought March Madness.......the vote should be out tomorrow and we will see Duke and Kansas in the championship game"
not just any coach
there aren’t many who can step in and run the triangle
Ironically, one of them is Kurt Rambis
not to mention dealing with Artest, assuming Ron-Ron’s back (he’s under contract and I assume he won’t be traded)
