I was one of the biggest Pritchard fans out there, shoot my wife tells me I had a definite man crush on the guy. He played such a prominent role in bringing this team back to being a good, exciting team to root for. I was a mess with the whole debacle of his firing and was really starting to lose faith in Blazer management in general. I liked Cho the best of the rumored options out there, but was less than optimistic with the hiring. Looking back, the question that I now ask myself and I pose to my fellow Bedgers is if it's time to give this guy some love for what he has done so far?
Let’s look at what this guy has done:
- First, he handled the whole Rudy wanting to go back home thing well and didn't give in to his or his agents demands. Rudy now loves Portland and is a key guy off the bench.
- Then he turned the ever popular Jerryd Bayless into a first round pick. This helped de-clutter the log jam at PG/SG and gave us a valuable asset that eventually turned into GW.
- Took the "Oden out for the year...again" headline with a positive attitude and signed guys like Sean Marks to entertain us and remind us that if given an extra foot or so we could all get signed by an NBA team.
- Traded 2 first round picks, Przybilla, and Dante for GW. Since that trade this team has really developed a swagger and showed it against some of the best teams in the league. We went to "I hope we make the playoffs" to "dude, we could totally take Dallas and even give LA a run in the second round."
Now I want to recognize that the trade doesn't happen if we don't have a great owner in PA willing to spend some coin on a winning product, but Cho still made it happen. So the answer is YES he deserves some love. I'm sure many of you will say it depends on how this squad does in the playoffs, but so far in his young GM career he is doing as good as I would have thought possible.
