Did the blazers use some biological warfare on friday

here's your gift blanket for all your years of service, Steve

What as done to the original native Oregonians was a sad chapter in NW history

This has been the plan all along.

Steve Blake never stopped being a Blazer.

Sounds like Kobe, Bynum, and Artest have never had the chickenpox. Biological warfare FTW!

by blazer_tk on Apr 13, 2011 2:12 PM PDT up reply actions

Weird.

The interwebs state adult chicken pox can last 3-4 weeks. He may not make it back by the time we beat them in the playoffs.

He's been terrible

But does that that kobe’s back up is luke walton?

by svlittle on Apr 12, 2011 3:54 PM PDT up reply actions

Kobe Bryant's backup is Shannon Brown.

Though, without Steve Blake, Brown now becomes the backup at both guard spots.

Behind Ron Artest at the 3, Matt Barnes and Luke Walton will pick up those minutes.

I know kobe's back up is shannon brown

Brown will have to be point. Unless phil plans to keep fisher or kobe on the floor at all times, walton or barnes will have to play shooting guard. I think everyone not in purple and gold doesn’t mind that

Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher, and Shannon Brown can easily split 96 backcourt minutes.

Hypothetically, Bryant will get about 40, Fisher will get about 28, and Brown will get about 28.

Luke Walton and Matt Barnes won't play the 2.

Particularly Walton, who’s really a combo forward.

yeah, i had them when I was 30

I lasted about a week and a half for me.

At my worst, I laid on the floor for a day and a half straight, only getting up to relieve myself and refill a water glass. I had a straw in the glass so I could drink from it without lifting my head off the pillow. I had a fever of about 104.

At one point, very gradually over the course of several hours, I felt a blister gradually form on my forehead, grow to a massive size, then burst on it’s own and start oozing. I was too weak to even reach up and wipe off my brow. That particular blister left a scar on my forehead.

Best wishes and speedy recovery, Blake! Adult chicken pox are NOT fun…

by Rodney Gustafson on Apr 13, 2011 12:46 PM PDT up reply actions

good gosh

please describe the blister in more detail so I can get a better image in my mind. Yuck! :-)

Sounds like adult Chicken Pox is not a good thing if I may summarize. Am I capturing the essence of what you’ve said correctly?

I have Comcast. I know that makes you hate me. I'm sorry. If it's any consolation, my neighborhood may get Comcast but we've got someone who plays the tuba. A lot.

I laughed when kobe said this in july and I'm laughing harder now

"I love that pickup. Every time I played against Blake when he was in Portland and when he matched up with me, he obviously gave up a lot in size and weight but he fought me hard every time. And I hit him with some nasty elbows, believe me, but he kept fighting, he kept battling, kept battling and to me, that’s the kind of guy I want on my team so it says a lot about him."

by svlittle on Apr 12, 2011 3:43 PM PDT reply actions

Hey, David Stern--see that?

Kobe Bryant just admitted throwing “nasty elbows.” Think maybe that’s something the officials could watch for in this playoff run?

Yeah, right.

I still believe in Greg Oden. The Blazers' medical staff? Not so much.

I'd change my handle to "bringback'09," but I'm too lazy.

Screw the Lakers title hopes

As an adult this is very serious to have. I wish him a speedy recovery back to full health.

My 2 initial thoughts:

1) Crap! There goes our “Secret Agent”, who we planted on the lakers with a clearly defined mission to play juuuust good enough to get minutes, but, then to ultimately throw the gsme once we matched up with them in the playoffs. (And, yes, we’d give him a “secret” championship ring should we win it all.)

followed, quickly by

2) Hmmm… maybe this was the plan all along: Get the whole laker team sick with Adult Chicken Pox right before the playoffs… Hmmmm….

I was thinking the same, wouldn’t it be a shame if the L*kers all came down with the CP right before the playoff opener?

David Stern and the TV execs down in Who-ville would all say “boo-hoo-hoo”

Pretty sure you can't get chicken pox unless you haven't had it as a kid.

Which would mean Steve never had it. And I’m pretty sure it’s worse to have for adults than for children.

Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.

evidently K*be, Artest and some other L*ker player didn't have childhood CP

I believe it mutated about 25 years ago or so...

I think I heard that there has been an increase in adults that HAD CP as a child contracting this mutated strain as an adult. Could be mistaken on this though.

1) The Lakers gave Blake Chicken Pox just so he could stop playing. period.

2) Blake is a secret agent and that’s his plan.

what? steve blake's mom didn't mingle him with the other kids when he was 6?

isn’t that what everyone did?

what i want to know is where a man in his 30s gets chicken pox?

putting 2 and 2 together…

Some people just don't get it as kids...

My parents always told me that they really made a point to make sure I mingled with kids with chicken pox back when I was young, but I have not yet had it, 19 years and counting and now at this point, I’m just hoping I never get it at this point…

Likewise

My parents took me AND my sisters everywhere to try and expose us. One of my sisters had it, but the other two didn’t. I did the same with my kids when they were little. So we started thinking that maybe one of my sisters and I had a certain amount of built in immunity to it, and perhaps my kids had inherited that.

Then when my daughter was 12 and my son was 8 (and I was 30), it hit us all. That was a rough three week stretch, which included Christmas. lol

by Rodney Gustafson on Apr 13, 2011 12:52 PM PDT up reply actions

When I was a kid, my dad got it from my brother and I.

we sure it isn't

If he had chicken pox as a kid that is what causes the adult chicken pox (shingles) maybe somebody messed up the medical terminology on purpose to not reveel

Geez, I sure hope Blake didn’t spend any time with his old teammates … oh yea, he already did while the Lakers were here on Friday!! eek
