Magic C Dwight Howard Suspended For Blazers Game

30

The NBA announced on Saturday that Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard has been suspended for Monday night's game against the Portland Trail Blazers after receiving his 16th technical foul of the season during a Friday night loss to the Chicago Bulls. The decision was expected - as noted by BlacknoiseNW in the FanShots last night - because a one-game suspension is automatic following a player's 16th technical on the season. But the foul and the decision had to go through a review process, as technicals can be rescinded by the league after the fact. No rescinding here, as he very clearly swung the ball in frustration at Bulls forward Kyle Korver (at the 1:10 mark of this video). Monday's game in Orlando kicks off a four-game road trip for the Blazers, a swing that will take them to Miami (Tuesday), Charlotte (Friday) and Atlanta (Saturday). -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
