Freeman: Elliot Williams update
EWill visited his LA surgeon this week and got good news -- he's been cleared to resume basketball activities and step up his rehab.
-------------------
"It went really well," Williams said of the visit. "He said my progress is very good. I can’t jump yet, but I can do everything else and I’m going to start pushing it pretty hard. So I’m excited."
Williams is forbidden from dunking and has to limit his cutting for another four-to-six weeks because his surgeries were spaced out over eight weeks and his left knee has to catch up to his right knee. But he’s optimistic he will be cleared to resume all basketball activities sometime in late April.

Sweet!
2012 ROY. lol.
I’m anxious to see what this kid’s got. I’m glad things are moving progressively quick. I’m sure we would love to get on the court as soon as he can, even if it’s just for practice.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
Speaking of which, I wonder where he would fall in this years draft if he was.
Not many SGs in this draft that are very good. Alec Burks is the top SG, who can’t shoot but has size 6’6".
nbadraft has him at #8
draftexpress has him at #16.
Dare I say, he’d be the #1 SG in the draft this year? Not sure if that’s positive for him or negative for the draft.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
probably a combination of both

I have no idea what this kid can do
Except for jump. Hopefully he still has that.

he could drive to his left, in college
Dougie, Email and AJ all need to attend “let’s work on that right hand” camp

I find it weird that so many people harp on the abilty of lefties to drive right
Yet never seem to bring up most righties ability to go left.
In every sport I’ve ever played, I’ve hated going against lefties. Except hockey, because that’s the one sport I go southpaw.

Barrett is a southpaw, too
Mike was talking about AJ always going left the other night, he said it works for awhile in the NBA until the opposing players figure it out and start pushing the penetrator to his off-hand
there are some players (looking at you, Clyde) who can dominate with one strong hand, but most of them will need to have a counter move, or three

Nobody on these boards mentions Wallace, Batum, Wesley, or Rudy needing to learn to dribble with their left hands
It’s just such a weird thing to focus on.
It’s never a positive that he goes left.
Or that he finishes at the rim very effectively for a rookie.

Great. The one thing this team needs is another shooting guard.

Hey, the Spurs wanted him, badly
That in and of itself probably means he’ll be at least better than Rudy, who we could ship out in a trade for another asset.

Rudy is our PGOTF

to defend the 2010 draft
KP and crew didn’t know they would have Rudy after the summer, and acquiring Matthews was still one idea among many
and they may have had an inkling that Roy’s knees wouldn’t last forever

I can't defend the Babbitt selection, however...

that can shoot corner treys
Babbitt is Travis 2.0
one of these days he’ll be earning out of this world money

I just hope Elliott recovers OK and has no further injuries
Id love to see him play and throw down a lob or two from good ol’ Dre. Best of luck and a continued recovery E-Will.

This kid seems like he can be pretty good, especially because of his explosiveness. Yet, I'm now nervous about his knees.
What did this surgery do to ensure his knee caps won’t dislocate?
Williams can’t be any worse than Luke Babbitt.

Email will be another in a long line
of prospects that Nate didn't play who went on to glory elsewhere

Note the sarcasm font.
Nate plays the prospects that are worth a crap. See Batum, Nicolas, and Matthews, Wesley.
