Joel Freeland vs. Real Madrid

Unicaja Malaga continues its quest to make the ACB playoffs. The Malagueños won their third straight this Saturday, March the 19th, 69-68, in overtime at home to improve to 14-12 and now stand at seventh place in the ACB standings.

Portland Trail Blazers’ Joel Freeland started and logged 34:57 of playing time. Freeland scored 11 points on 5-of-12 shooting, grabbed 10 boards, blocked two shots and drew five personal fouls.

Despite the, somewhat, solid numbers, Freeland did not play well at all. He struggled badly against Ante Tomic’s 7’3’’ frame on offense and couldn’t contain the Jazz, who scored 18 points, in the post on defense. His frustration was clear.

The game featured the return of Jorge Garbajosa to Unicaja, after he was released by Real Madrid early in the week. Gerald Fitch led the home team with 26 points and Terrell McIntyre hit the game-winner.
