Is it just me or are Ben and Dave indicitive of us fans on the site here? For me, without knowing who wrote a piece on the site, I can tell whether Ben wrote it or Dave wrote it. Ben is very hesitant to give Roy much credit while Dave is very liberal with credit to Roy. I clearly line up in Dave's camp but its funny reading the two write-ups on those nights now where Roy shows flashes of his old self.
Last night, what I saw was Roy closing out that game. On the line, up one (100-99), Roy cleanly swishes 2 free throws. I wouldn't put money on anyone else on this team outside of Miller making both of those pressure freebies. Then Roy makes the tough baseline fadeaway over 2 defenders to put them back up 3. LMA had a wide open shot to seal it with less than 24 seconds left, a shot he makes almost always in the 1st 3 quarters, but he missed it giving Dirk a chance to tie the game (my big problem with LMA is he is a nice guy with all the talent in the world but needs to be more "cold-blooded" for this team right now).
Anyway, Ben was cautious regarding Roy pointing out his 17 shots and his subpar 1st half. Dave was postively glowing in his review of Roy's performance. I bet us fans are similar in their disparate review of Roy last night.
To me, this game points out how badly this team needs Roy to regain some of that All-Star consistency he had over the next 16 games. I believe that in the playoffs, this team needs LMA, Miller, Rudy, Wes, Wallace and Co. to keep them in games for the first 3 quarters. Then, in the 4th, Roy needs to be Roy and win the game. Its weird because the only other guy on this team i trust to take pressure shots is Rudy and the only other guy on this team I trust to take pressure free throws is Miller.
But i just find it very funny when I read Ben and Dave's differing opinions on Roy on those nights Roy looks close to form!
