Schroeder: Blazers To Sign Chris Johnson For Rest Of The Season

Scott Schroeder of Ridiculous Upside reports that the Portland Trail Blazers are set to take a second look at lengthy big man Chris Johnson... ---------------------- Sources close to the situation have informed Ridiculous Upside that the team is expected to call-up Chris Johnson for the remainder of the season. (Teammate Mike Anderson seemed to confirm the news in a tweet on Saturday afternoon) ---------------------- Portland's roster stood at 14 players after the team signed Jarron Collins to a second 10-day contract on Friday. The Blazers signed Johnson to a 10-day contract on Jan. 24 but elected not to give him a second 10-day contract in February. Johnson was also signed by the Celtics to a 10-day contract but wasn't retained because the Celtics needed the roster spot for their waiver wire signings. Johnson averaged 2 points and 2 rebounds in 2 appearances with the Blazers. Thanks to Chea Cubana who got there first in the FanPosts. Update: Joe Freeman of The Oregonian reports that the Blazers are "on the verge" of signing Johnson, citing a "source with knowledge of the situation." -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
