Quick: LaMarcus Aldridge Miffed By Kevin Love's Selection

54
Last night, I noted that NBA commissioner David Stern had named Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love to the All-Star Game as a replacement for injured Houston Rockets center Yao Ming, who had been voted into the Western Conference starting lineup by fans. Jason Quick of The Oregonian reports that Portland Trail Blazers power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was also a contender for the spot, was a bit miffed by the selection. ----------------------------- "It just shows there's a lot of politics in it, man," Aldridge said of Stern's choice. "It's not about leading your team to victories or about making your team better, it's about stats. "First of all, I have nothing against Kevin Love, he is a really good player," Aldridge said. "But I thought All-Star was about making your team better, making your record better. Keeping your team in the right direction. That's the way it has always been in the past. But now I know: It's about stats, not record." ----------------------------- In a piece for HoopsHype earlier this week, I compared and contrasted the All-Star campaigns conducted by the Timberwolves and Trail Blazers on behalf of their candidates. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
