Are you ready for us Mr. Wallace?
clank, clank, clank...
boom, zip, swoosh, sounds of sneakers being laced up, tape being rolled out in strips and cut, quiet teammates chuckling in the corners, line up cards being shuffled...
No words, just the overwhelming feeling that its coming... click... click ....click, anxious, the clock approaches 7:20, ..... the doors open, the lights go on, whispers turn into words, hairs on the back of necks stand on end... electricity is in the air.... Fear?... fear? is smelt or felt? somewhere in the vicinity..
Out of the locker room they come, a few flashes here and there, ... media.... smiles... and comrades striding through it like it was something for someone else, today it is,...... No... it's not Fear?.. this is something diffrent...this is something new
It was an echo, a faint sound, and a minor vibration, a low hum of an engine maybe, louder, walking through the animate cameras and microphones, louder, there's energy drawing him to the floor... the pipes overhead are rattling, Louder even, advertisements on the wall resonate with the cohesive clap and boom of the masses ahead,.. into a sea of White Red and Black he shall descend, feelings of something he hasn't felt, since before he can remember, he remembers home, he remembers his first dunk in the NBA, he feels something he's not quite sure he has ever felt to this day, no , this is new, this is something else.. this sound, this noise.. this energy, this intensly deafening united voice.. THIS IS PORTLAND.
Welcome Gerald,............ are you ready for us?

This is where Wallace is going to be effective
Love the build up to faith :)
I cant wait to see wallace in action. Together with Andre Miller, one of the most consistent players every to play in the NBA, and a healthy Roy, this is going to be one hell of a team to watch.
Yes, critics will argue that its too late in the season for much to happenand im sure everyone heard what great support we have from Mr Charles Barkley :)
But this is great for next season. After two consecutive years of having the same issue with Oden, having a versitile power house like Wallace will definetly get the ball rolling for Portland.

This is actually a pretty legit question
Considering he is coming from the Charlotte, a team that is closer to contraction then a sell out. I wonder if he is prepared for the media swarm as well.
"Its as natural as a gorilla thumping its chest"
he's been in the NBA 9 years
played on the east coast, been to the all-star game
Joe, Jason and rest of the Portland media aren’t going to faze Crash
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
if yesterday's interviews and press conference are any guide
Crash will soon have the local media eating out of his hand! The man is intelligent, articulate, well spoken. A consummate professional. He will soon be giving tutorials to his teammates on how to handle the media.
Win the day!
As someone living in Norht Carolina and who used to live in Portland,
I can tell you that the games are very different between the Bobcats and the Blazers. When I went last year the Bobcats were in the playoff race with the Bucks. The game was down to the wire and Stephen Jackson hit the game winner. There was mild applause, some happy people, but you could tell the fans weren’t all that excited.
If that same situation had played out in the RG it would have been CRAZY! The Blazers fans really love their team, and I bet anything it won’t take long for Crash to take a liking to that.

Good to hear it from someone who was there! We just see the arenas on TV…and many look fairly empty.
I can co-sign that one
I live in Maryland and generally go to 3 or 4 east coast Blazers games each year (still havent made it out to PDX). Ive seen the Blaze play the Bobcats the last 2 years and I will be going again in a couple Fridays. Its a really nice city and the people are really nice, but those fans really dont seem to be into the games….We nearly blew the game last year in Charlotte, we were up at half and the Cats came back in the 3rd and early 4th…. and I gotta say that in an arena with a hype fan base, they wouldve pulled away but the fans just werent really there…instead Brandon slowed down the pace and won the game on freethrows. I have heard a few people say that Charlotte really belongs to the Panthers and unless the Bobcats can get to a championship level they will never get any real profile, kinda like the Wizards. I can say for certain that people are much more concerned with a 4-10 Redskins team than they would be if the Wiz started out 10 games over .500
I can’t even put into words how excited I am about Gwallace….and ill be in Charlotte to see his return in a few weeks. btw, great city (minus the jesus billboards Everywhere), lots of good food

Does he care? Maybe a little…
I’ll tell you what, if you can get some emotion out of Wallace (ala Camby) then you did your part, but I think he’s gonna be pretty reserved, he’s a professional like ’Dre, no emotion.
Sometimes us Blazer fans can get pretty pretentious.
he's been here before.
but back then it was called sacramento.
back in 2001 arco arena was humming with rabid fans and cow bells in the supercharged atmosphere of deep playoff runs.
i bet he’s missed that sound for a long time and can’t wait to play in the rose garden!
that's what the RG needs
more cowbell!
j/k, stay classy Portland
