Mike Cranston, a Charlotte Bobcats beat writer for the Associated Press, tweeted: "Higgins says Joel Przybilla will arrive in CLT Sat. DJ White later today, but Nazr won't be in OKC in time for White to be eligible tonight" and also "Bobcats will have only 8 players dressed tonight vs SAC."

With no physical for Przybilla, Wallace's first game for the Blazers will likely be against the Hawks on Sunday.

Joe Freeman of The Oregonian also reports Blazers center Marcus Camby is out tonight. Jay Allen of 95.5 The Game reports: "Nate says he doesn't expect to have Wallace for tonight. Nate says Nic will play some center tonight vs. Denver. Rudy will start tonight against the Nuggets."

Gonna be tough to beat the Nugs

Martin and Nene are more involved in the offense, now that Melo’s gone

Hopefully Roy will go off, in his 2nd game out

Martin isn't playing tonight.

It won’t be tough to beat the Nuggets. It’s their first road game as a team. They weren’t all that good a road team WITH Melodrama….

The only reason they won last night is that the Celtics totally cashed it in. The Celtics are very upset about the Perkins trade (KG, Pierce). The Nuggets went on a 16-0 run in the 4th quarter…
come on…do you think they were TRYING?

The Blazers were able to hold the Lakers to 87 points in regulation time…this is with THE DEADLINE looming and players either thinking they may be traded or that they may be losing a key member of the team….so really …..

If the Blazers show up to play they will win tonight.

This is excellent

That means the only true bigs left in Denver are Nene and Bird Man. It’s unlikely that they’ll play much simultaneously, so Denver will probably play a similarly small lineup.

Would have loved to be at the game tonight and join the crowd welcoming Crash to the team. Probably for the better, so he can get a practice or 2 in before the next game. Besides, he will be welcomed (in street clothes likely) if he’s in the building.

Not sure this is going to end well. They have plenty of mobile bigs to throw at LMA. All of them are relatively rested and on a high from their win against the Cs.

Martin is NOT playing.

1/2 of their team has just moved from New York. Moved across the country. To a new team.

They beat a depleted PSDS Celtics team. The wily Celtics didn’t even try to make it look like they were bothering to win….16-0 Nuggets run in the 4th quarter?
Unless the Nuggets are completely clueless, they will realize the Celtics GAVE them that win.

Nuggets had adrenaline going for them against the Nuggets.

That leaves our bench tonight as:

Mills, Babbit, Johnson, Roy (15 minutes?)

That’s TINY ball, that’s YMCA ball on the bench. Roy is only considered YMCA level because he’s limited in mins and lateral movement. But Mills and AJ stacked on top of eachother couldn’t play forward. And Ray Babbit is nothing but a spot-up shooter who can’t D up.

LMA, Nico, and Wes$ are going to be exhausted playing 40-45 mins (if it’s close or foul trouble).

I thought Turkeyglue was going to help out the team, and the deal was basically done! Dre was the guy much lower on the list.

we know more about Hedo

Portland wanted him badly, he was the #1 target, the deal was very close, then Colangelo/Toronto stepped in at the last minute and lffered a few more bucks

that, and Mrs. Turkey supposedly preferred Toronto

Regardless, that was a huge bullet dodged, just like how the alleged Dre/Oden/Przy for Harris/Murphy deal never came to fruition

I think it’s pretty clear what Cho was trying to do. He was trying to get Harris and Wallace in Portland. Wallace has been a target for Portland since Raef Lafrentz was in town, so has Harris, because he was going to be dealt to us instead of NJ originally but we drug our feet on Frye/Sergio/Outlaw…oops.

I think it might still be a possiblity to go for Harris eventually, but it’ll be more difficult now.

hahaha...I have to like Utah's chutzpah in pulling the chair out from under

Williams before he was able to create the LBJ..Melo media circus…teams are learning…Cleveland got screwed over to the greatest degree…Denver learned from that and at least got quite a bit in return for him..but had to deal with the locker room nonsense for 2/3 of this year…
Utah learned from Denver and said….nope..not on our watch.
And they showed the fans that SLOAN mattered to them.

Don’t think Harris is all that…so he probably will stay in Utah.
Read that Harris’s style of game is one in which the player doesn’t fare well physically and he has probably already reached his peak.
Maybe I’m wrong…and he will do better with a better system..fans…coaching…but he’s no super star IMO.

agree...the thing with knees though is that pain means it's not fully healed right?

And a non-fully healed ANYWHERE IN THE KNEE AREA…should not be messed with.
You are right about say..the shoulder thing…

I think Roy will play...he just won't play in back to backs.

But given the effect his being in the game seemed to have for LMA…if Roy is out…so be it.
Though ideally I wish LMA would just continue to play his game and let Roy do what he is able to do….

Roy doesn't make a huge difference...

…we’re thin at PF/C. If he plays or doesn’t play, we’re still looking at very heavy minutes from our forwards tonight.

I have to admit, I'm not real happy that McMillan sounds so insistant on Wallace not starting right away

Hopefully it’ll just be for a game or two. Wallace is the kind of guy that doesn’t need plays run for him, so he should be able to play productive minute immediately.

40 years of being a Blazer fan,

I was thrilled when we landed the #1 pick. Dreamed of a championship.

5 years later, waiting for Oden with no concrete back up plan has done me in. My anus is exit only, not buying the smoke Blazer brass is trying to blow up it.
Sorry, contenders are stocking bigs, Blazers move the entire front line back up in one move.
I can’t take it anymore.
Crash is great, but doesnt fill the hole thats been open 5 years now.
From draft on on, this franchise management has been embarassing, I feel for the players and coach who have more heart than the ones who sign their checks.

IMO, the management has been pretty great (outside of the Roy contract).

You can’t predict injuries, and Cho is doing everything he can to make the team better. Besides, Camby will soon be back and we’ll get another big.

"Nicolas! You're the strongest boy in the world!"

by ericking on Feb 25, 2011 1:07 PM PST up reply actions

hmm

I understand where you’re coming from, but this move actually gives me some hope. Wallace is a heck of a player and I really think this move is for the playoff run. I also really like Batum’s comments on getting Wallace. He’s looking at it as a huge opportunity to learn from the guy. I love that. When you think about, we just upgraded our SF position in the western conferrence to being in the top 3. That’s pretty big.

I agree we’re shot handed in the middle, but I’ve kinda been seeing this develop over the course of the year. Aldridge may not want to be called a center, but I have a feeling he’s going to be our center for the future if we don’t get a major player there.

Have faith, I know it’s tough, but I really think we’re on the right track. There are going to be obstacles, but I think Cho is putting us into position to make some really major moves in the very near future in the west. Next season we’ve got Miller, Camby, and Oden all going to expiring, the year after Wallace is an expiring. We can make some major trades with those piece if we want.

We’ll see, buy I’m optomistic about our future for the first time in months.

It's Cho's first year...so far so good.

The draft was KPs…last laugh if you ask me…

From draft on on,

I am sure the mgmt will address the Center issue before the Atlanta game.

supposed to be draft day on,

I truly belive Mr Allen calls all shots, the gm is a figure head, and KP’s head got big. Imo, it doesnt matter how many gm’s come and go.
My expectations are too high, and patience level is too low 5 years later.
I hope the center position is addressed. Pryz coming back would make me feel a bit better, but its still not the long term answer.

"We've got to get stops ! " ...... Nate McMillan

by FrenchieFan on Feb 25, 2011 1:34 PM PST up reply actions

impatience is a bad thing for us right now though

this trade puts us firmly on the upswing again. We all share the frustration, but it doesn’t mean we should force the issue. I also think the GM is much more than a figurehead, even in our organization. Paul Allen is not on the phone with other GMs, he is not crafting and building beneficial trades…sure he may have an opinion on who to target and approve or veto a deal (just like Jordan, or Cuban, or any other majority owner) but he is absolutely not playing the very important role of GM for us. The 5 spot really isn’t that bad of a situation if we have health. How many centers do we need? Most teams have a 3 or 4 man frontcourt rotation (Camby, Oden, LMA, and now Wallace when desired). This trade brought us an all-star for a bunch of mediocre players and a non-lottery draft pick. Our big man depth wasn’t good anyway, so considering how much the magnitude of the upgrade outweighs the marginal downgrade, I am very excited and optimistic about what we have decided to do here. You will feel better when you see it in action.

I hear ya man

I think we’ll find out next season. We’ve got major money coming off the books next season, and usually after a lockout and reduced salary cap, those are going to be worth their weight in gold. I think we’ll be ok. For now we just gotta keep cheering these guys on.
