With the acquisition of Gerald Wallace, I think that the Blazers have really gone a long ways towards making themselves a contender this year. This tells me that Cho and Allen are in it to win it within the next two years. My belief is that they want to try to win it now because Miller and Camby are aging and because of the uncertainty regarding the long term health of Roy's knees and possibly Allen's own uncertain future health. But what does getting Wallace mean for Batum? Right now Wallace is superior to Batum in pretty every area except maybe 3 point shooting, but I believe that Batum has the potential to be as good or better than Wallace in the future. The two can likely play together this year, and may be even next year, but eventually one or the other must go in order for Batum to continue his growth and maturation. Wallace has 2 years left on his current contract. Is he a 2 year rental for the Blazers? Would you keep Wallace and trade Batum? Who is going to be the better fit for the Blazers in the long term? My feeling is that we keep Wallace this year and next, then sign and trade him for a PG to replace Miller and or a C to replace Camby as both of them will be done as a Blazers by then, and sign Batum, who is much younger than Wallace to a long term contract extension as a SF of the future.
