Is Paul Millsap now availablefor the Blazers?
With Utah's acquisition of Derrick Favors in the D-Will trade, they seem to have a real glut of PF types on the Jazz with Favors, Al Jefferson, Andrei Kirilenko and Paul Millsap. They certainly don't need all four of those guys on the team. The Blazers need a good back up PF, is it possible that Utah would be willing to trade Millsap to a division rival? What would we have to give up to get him? Since Utah is in rebuilding mode, perhaps some draft picks and Przybilla?

Yeah no way...
Millsap is averaging 17 and 8. He is about the only guy they have right now and I don’t see him accepting a lesser role. Don’t want to touch Jefferson and I am sure they want to develop Favors.
I'm not opposed to Jefferson
As I posted in another thread, I think Portland would have to consider a Przy + Oden for Jefferson deal. Long term C that plays 70 games most years? 15 and 9 from the C spot next to Aldridge, with Camby backing both of them up for a couple more years would be pretty nice.
I would REALLY like to see Oden healthy as a Blazer… But a known quantity at C would sure be nice as well.

I already posted in trade drawer
but I think a Millsap for Wesley Matthews trade would both be very amusing given the history and also actually make some basketball sense for both teams.

Heh! Milsap may be the closest Utah has to a franchise player - no way they trade him.
OTOH it would be fun to be one of the Vultures picking the Utah carcass clean!!!! :-)
LaMONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Millsap was truly their franchise player,
why did they trade for a guy to replace him? Both Millsap and Favors can only really play power forward.

Favors is a Rookie and he has a long way to go before being ready to replace Milsap.
Right now he just gives them depth at that position.

I would trade Oden for him
Might make sense for the Jazz.
They could dump a bunch of games this year. Favors gets playing time, they have two high draft picks and one mid (golden state), and end up next year w/ Harris, Favors, Jefferson, Oden and the picks. Might make sense.
We’d have a real tough lineup afterwards I think (though undersized)
Miller/Roy/Batum/Millsap/Aldridge
with Matthews, Rudy, and Camby for our eight man rotation
maybe they'll take Matthews back in exchange?
j/k
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
Kirilenko and his
contract is who will go. They’ve been trying to find a suitor for months. With Favors, Millsap and Jefferson, they’ve simply solidified those slots for the future.
Millsap or Jefferson
If we could get away with getting either of those guys (but especially Jefferson so we can role with the Bynums/Duncans of the league) for Przybilla’s contract and draft picks, I’d say it’s a no brainer. I’d also go for Przybilla, draft picks and Rudy if they were interested since B-Roy can play Rudy’s back-up minutes. Starting 5 of Jefferson/Aldridge/Batum/Matthews/Miller has some potential, especially with Camby backing up the 4/5 and Roy backing up 2/3 spots. Maybe not a championship top 5 but a very impressive (possibly deep playoff) top 7. If Oden ends up being playable next year…then even better.
Jefferson isn't what we need
He is a black hole that plays absolutely no D. With the emergence of LMA we need a big who can play D, not one who will complain that they arent getting enough touches on offense.
You're a black hole...
okay okay, I didn’t mean that. Truth-be-told, I haven’t seen Jefferson play much and was looking more at his stat line. I assumed that a guy who gets over 9 rebounds a game and weighs almost 300lbs would be a good defender. I actually agree with you, we need a big defender who can defend other hulking monsters and rebound (in order to give LMA more touches, not take them away from him). Pretty much I want Camby to gain 60 lbs (and get 10 years younger while he’s doing it)….that’d do it.
