The soccer mom thing is an ongoing joke about Portland.

Simmons has admitted to being 0 for 2 with Blazers picks. He already admitted that the Aldridge contract wasn’t as bad as he thought, and already sees the value in Wesley Matthew’s after initially disparaging the contract.

Simmons is a keen observer of sports nuances and social behaviors, unfortunately for him his assessment of NBA talent isn’t as refined.

Dear Bill (I know you're reading this thread)

Just wanted to say that, for the most part, I enjoyed your recent interview with Commish Stern. I liked how you tried to get out of him the ‘one thing’ that he wanted most of all in the new CBA. I appreciated you getting a soundbite regarding players who want to play in Europe during the lockout.

However, if you’re going to mention the fact that you have Clippers’ season tickets, can you keep it to once a podcast? I know that you think that Blake is the best young player in the league, you don’t have to repeat yourself several times.

(Note to Rip City: I wanted to vault Aldridge into the next group, but he’s been kicking butt for only two months — I can’t tell if it’s a hot streak or something more. Had to play it safe considering he has a $70 million contract.
